What is Robotics?• Robotics is the science and technology of

robots, their design, manufacture, and application.

• The word was first used in print by Isaac Asimov.

Robots

• The word robot was coined by Karel Čapek in his 1920 play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots)

• The word means "drudgery" or "hard work" in Czech and Slovak
