Forthreeyearsfrom1973Michael PetersonwasthestandoutsurferinAustralia,butthepoints-for-manoeuvressystemaccentuatedhisdomination.Otherspaidheedtothemovesthatdeliveredthehighestscores,butMichaelstudiedthepointstablelikeakidswattingforanexam,andhadhisownsummaryonthedashboardofhiscar.InonerareinterviewwithTracks,hesummeduphisstrategybysayinghedideverythingasfastandradicalashecould.“Ijustdidn’tstopmoving.Ievenziggedandzaggedbetweenmyzigsandzags.”—MichaelGordon
