Our D group has been working through a study entitled, “We Over Me.” This study has really been great for me as it has helped me see how many times I tend to put my wants and wishes over God’s will in my life and even in my job. After all, I want my way, don’t you want your own way too? I think too often we begin to think that Church is a democracy and the people should decide. But the church isn’t a democracy, it’s a theocracy. We are led by God and need to seek His will for our lives and our church. And that is easy to say but how often do we do that? Do we seek God’s will before, during and after we post on social media? Do we seek God’s will in our response to COVID? Do you seek God’s will in how we respond to someone who offended you? Do we seek God’s will in determine how we will spend our free time? Do we seek God’s will on how we spend our money? Do we seek God’s will in how we speak to people? I was reading in Ephesians chapter 6 this past week: “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Notice the time that Paul says we are to take in preparing for each day. Paul is instructing us to prepare ourselves because without preparation we know we will fail. But notice every single item we wear is from God. It never tells us to arm ourselves with our own opinion or our own wisdom or our own “common sense.” We find ourselves prepared only from the amount of time we spend with God each day! So ask yourself this question: “are you spending more time with Christ than you did a year ago?” Let us encourage each other towards God and His Word! See you Sunday, Randy!
MUSIC NOTES
A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR
Pastor and former president of the SBC, James Merritt, wrote...”By God’s grace I will never lead anyone to doubt the word of God, disobey the will of God, disregard the wisdom of God or disdain the work of God.” Whether through or words or our actions, we must never do any-thing to present misleading testimonies of who we are and who we belong to. And while few of us would ever knowingly do so, many of us unknowingly do so. The eyes of our community are always watching us. They watching to see how we handle our-selves in public, and in different situations. Some are watching, hoping that we will fail. Others are watching, looking for some direction in their own lives. And still others are simply looking for some hope in this world, that seems to offer none right now. As Christians, we certainly have a responsibility to the Lord and to His church. But we also have a responsibility to the lost...to point them to truth and integrity and steadfastness of faith. And we do that through our public lives. Let what others see of you, in person, on social media, or by repu-tation never testify wrongly of the God you serve. And remember, those eyes are always watching. 1 John 5:21 this week. “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” Last verse in the letter. See you Sunday, Bro. Chris
