PROGRAM TEXT Carol of the Bells Music by Mykola Leontovich; Words and Arrangement by Peter J. Wilhousky Hark! How the bells, sweet silver bells, All seem to say, “Throw cares away.” Christmas is here bringing good cheer, To young and old, meek and the bold. Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song, With joyful ring, all caroling. One seems to hear words of good cheer From ev’rywhere, filling the air.
Oh, how they pound, raising the sound, O’er hill and dale, telling their tale. Gaily they ring, while people sing, Songs of good cheer, Christmas is here! Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas! On, on they send, on without end, Their joyful tone to every home. Ding, dong, ding, dong.
O Come, All Ye Faithful (All are invited to sing along!)
J. F. Wade’s Cantus Diversi, 1751; Arranged by David Willcocks O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant; O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem! Come and behold Him, born the King of angels! Refrain O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him! O come, let us adore Him! Christ, the Lord. See how the shepherds summoned to His cradle, Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear: We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps: Refrain
Sing, choirs of angels; sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above: Glory to God in the highest! Refrain Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning, Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n: Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing! Refrain
A Christmas Lullaby Words by Charles Anthony Silvestri; Music by Dan Forrest Lullaby, lullaby, Rest now my darling, Close your eyes, dreaming is nigh. Lullaby, lullaby, Angel voices softly singing Carols for their newborn King. Lullaby, lullaby, whisper and sigh, Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby.
Lullaby, lullaby, Silently waiting, All creation greets the Child; Lullaby, lullaby, Holy Child, fulfill our longing, Our foretold salvation bring. Lullaby, lullaby, whisper and sigh, Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby.
My Dancing Day Words and Melody from Sandys, 1833; 3rd Verse by Richard Hynson;
Arranged by Richard Hynson
Tomorrow shall be my dancing day; I would my true love did so chance To see the legend of my play, To call my true love to the dance. Refrain: Sing O my love, O my love, my love, my love; This have I done for my true love.
In a manger laid and wrapped I was, So very poor, this was my chance, Betwixt an ox and a silly poor ass, To call my true love to the dance. (Refrain) From humble birth to cross and grave, I came from heav’n mankind to save, God’s gift of peace and love and joy Encompassed in a little boy. (Refrain)
Do You Hear What I Hear? Words and Music by Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne Arranged by Harry Simeone Said the night wind to the little lamb, “Do you see what I see? ‘Way up in the sky, little lamb. Do you see what I see? A star, a star dancing in the night With a tail as big as a kite.” Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, “Do you hear what I hear? Ringing thru the sky, shepherd boy, Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the tree, With a voice as big as the sea.”
Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king, “Do you know what I know? In your palace warm, mighty king, Do you know what I know? A Child, a Child shivers in the cold, Let us bring Him silver and gold.” Said the king to the people ev’rywhere, “Listen to what I say: Pray for peace, people ev’rywhere! Listen to what I say: The Child, the Child sleeping in the night, He will bring us goodness and light.”
Silent Night Words by Joseph Mohr; Music by Franz Grüber; Arranged by Michelle Hynson Silent night! Holy night! All is calm, all is bright, Round yon virgin Mother and Child, Holy Infant so tender and mild, Sleep in heavenly peace. Silent night! Holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight; Glories stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing alleluia! Christ the Savior is born.
Silent night! Holy night! Son of God, love's pure light; Radiant beams from Thy holy face, With the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.
Joy to the World (All are invited to sing along!)
Music by George Fredrick Handel; Arranged by Richard Hynson Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let ev’ry heart prepare Him room, And heav’n and nature sing, And heav’n and nature sing, And heav’n, and heav’n, and nature sing. Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns! Let all their songs employ; While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy. He rules the world with truth and grace And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.
