Abraham J. Danc y (3 Nov 1807 - 30 Sep 1875), wa s born i n h-il kes Coun t y , the

son of Edward and Amelia ' 1illy' Va n noy Dancy . He joine d the Re d d ie s Ri...-er

Baptist Church by exp e r ie nce on t h 2n d Saturday in January 1830 . In 1830, he

marr ied Lucinda Wingle r (about 1810 - b e fore 1845), The Fed r a l Ce n s u of 18-10

show t hat Abrah am c r t ified the ce n sus for the Captain George :-[cNiel Dis t r ic t,

which is now Reddie s Riv e r Tow nship. T he minute s of Red dies Ri ve r Dapt~st Ch u rch

show that on the 2nd Satu r day in Sep tembe r, 1849, he was or d a ine tv the mi nistry

of the Gos pel. On 7 Aug 1865, he was em p owered to ll.dmin Oster ami _s t y oa " s, a nd

was appointed a judge of e lectio n s d urin g t.he first Fe d eral elpctio n follo win g the

surrender of the Confed racy.

Lucinda , Abrah a m's fi l'st wife , was the da ughter of Leonar d an d J y r e Danc y

Wingler. Lucinda join d Reddies River Baptis t Chu rch in May o r Ju ne 1830, an d

married Abraham late r t hat year. Abraham and Lu inda h a d t en cl ildren:
