Winner of ‘Svendborg Architecture Prize 2015’.This project was a combination of renovation and new construction. The old community house was renovated while a new extension was constructed to enlarging the inner assembly hall and support the house with new facilities.The design works with the interface between old and new, creating a new playfull form reflecting the active multipurpose use of the house.The project was designed while employed at DOMUS Arkitekter in collaboration with one other archi-tect.

Brøndby Strand Parkerne is Denmarks largest renovation project. This project is both a master plan for the 85 acre area and a transformation of the existing 2900 housing units (12 16-level buildings, 66 4-level buildings, 8 row houses blogs and several public buildings).The design proposal suggests an ambitious sustainable renovation of both the buildings and the sur-rounding landscape.The project was designed while employed at DOMUS Arkitekter in collaboration with a dedicated design team consisting of, Moe construction engineers, Kragh&Berglund landscape architects and BCVA architects.

City houses for AAB dep. 55, DOMUS Arkiteter, 2013.Responsibilities: form studies, design, drawings, 3D modelling
This design proposal for new passive city houses in Copenhagen incorporate sustainability, context and social relations between the neighbors.The houses are gathered together to minimise the exposed facades to reduce the heat loss. Shape of the houses and their windows are designed to provide optimal daylight conditions in the living units. The houses are placed so that neighbors can not look into each others homes, but at the same time neighbor enstrangement is prevented by facilitating encounters between neighbors as soon as they leave the door.Materials and size of the facades are made to blend into the context.The project was designed while employed at DOMUS Arkitekter in collaboration with one other archi-tect.

Green strategy for the dense-low typology in Denmark, DOMUS Arkiteter, 2015.Responsibilities: research, analyses, strategy, design, sustainable features etc.
The sustainable strategy for the dense-low typology was based on the small neighborhood ‘Græse Bakkeby’. First part of the assignment was to analyse the typology and highlight its sustainable pro-blems and potentials, which was summarized in a report. In the report all scales of the typology was investigated: for example 1. Vegetation, 2. Private outdoor spaces, 3. Public outdoor spaces, 4. En-vironmental initiatives, 4. Infrastructure, 5. A typical housing group, 6.The housing unit, 7. Front yard and backyard etc.Second face of the project was to propose a new use and appearance of the area incorporating sus-tainable solutions.

Slagelse Sports College is an ambitious housing project initiated by the Municipality of Slagelse, the local stadium and the city high school. The new building is built as part of the existing stadium and is intended to attract young professional athletes to the city.The new building is planned so that sport activities, such as gyms, locker rooms, club facilities are situated at the ground level, whereas the housing for the athletes are placed on the upper levels.There are one and two rooms apartments. The two rooms apartments is placed near the buildings ends and wedges to allow daylight from two facades.Each apartment has its own storeroom for sport equipment.All the apartments are connected by a large lobby, which function as a social gathering space in the building.

The vision of this thesis project was to create a metro station which function as a city gate and a gathering point for the neighborhood the station is placed in. This was done by combining the future North Harbour subway station with an outdoor sports activity center. The goal was to facilitate a close contact between the nature, and the subway travellers coming from the city of Copenhagen, creating activity in the newly developed area in The North Harbour of Copenhagen.North Harbour Station is one of two designed metro stations in the thesis project “When the system meets the place, two metro stations in the future Copenhagen”.

The vision of this thesis project was to create a metro station which function as a city gate and a gather-ing point for the neighborhood the station is placed in. In the Amorpark in Copenhagen this was done by combining the station’s function as a transporation hub, with a science museum that will communi-cate and showcase the great knowledge production, which takes place at the University area around the station. The aim of this was to facilitate knowledge sharing between the area’s various institutions, the travellers and the visitors. Amorpark Station is one of two designed metro stations in the final project “When the system meets the place, two metro stations in the future Copenhagen”.

Section af Amorpark StationA spiral ramp leads the travellers down to the metro platform in an open atrium. The users can enter the science museum as well as look into the exhibition along the way up and down to the subway platforms.

Design and construction drawings, 100 m2, COBE Arkitekter, 2010.Responsibilities: design development, research, modeling studies, form and color studies.
The children’s library was designed as a cave of boxes for storage, seating and contemplation. The project was designed while employed with COBE Architects in collaboration with one other architect.The complete library has been awarded with the ‘National Capital Beautification Prize, MIPIM’.

4 villas designed for a new residential area in Bratislava, Slovakia. The villas was envisioned as func-tional cubes located around a courtyard.The cubes can be positioned based on user preferences and terrain.The project was designed while employed by COBE Architects in collaboration with two other architects.

Competition design proposal, 12.000 m2, Burmeister Arkitekter, 2012.Responsibilities: involved in all phases of the project.
The building was designed so that it appears like a piece of wood that has been carved into a library.
Helsinki library was intended as a continuous sustainable construction. Sustainability is embedded in the building design, function, operation and demolition. Martin Vraa with a Ph.D. in sustainable ar-chitecture and Lyngkilde Engineers acted as consultants through the entire design process, looking at sustainability of the design.The construction is based on Finland’s tradition to build with local wood. Interior and exterior are constructed in the same type of wood. Aging of the building is embedded in the building design, as the exterior wooden facade will fade due to the harsh weather conditions and adjust to the colours in the area. The interior rooms and furniture will remain bright and friendly, as the tree here is protected.By using local wood as the primary building material the design aims at reducing CO2 emissions in the production of building materials and transportation of building materials. Local wood is also suitable for the Finnish climate and requires local Finnish building techniques, creating local labour.

HELSINKI PUBLIC LIBRARY
The grid column construction and light interior timber walls makes it possible to change the organiza-tion of the activities in building. This allows the building to be flexible and enables adaptebility with regards to the spatial organization.The building’s structural columns and floor slabs are constructed in concrete for fire protection and stabilisation.
The library is naturally ventilated through four large ventilation shafts shown as large vertical cuts in the facade. The building entrances are located in the ventilation shafts, making them visible from the outside. The ventilation is controlled by a simple slat system.Solar panels on the roof of the building operates a hot-water pump in the basement, which optimizes the building’s energy consumption.
Upon demolition of the building, the building materials used can be easily recycled.

Ground planThe double height ground plan / library lobby is planned as an unheated area, that function as a transitional zone between the surroundings and the upper floors of the building. The glass facade of the entire lobby can be opened up during the summer, allowing the foyer to freely merge with the surrounding city and park.

Slats on the building’s windows makes it possible to individually control the light in the library’s upper rooms. The windows are placed in the facade, so they create optimal interior daylight for reading.Inner green courtyards function as light wells to the interior spaces as well as creates recreational spaces and im-proves the natural ventilation of the buildings interior.

This design proposal for the new DGI Sports Center combines renovation and new construction into one cohesive building complex.
This project proposes to wrap the existing buildings with the new additional features such as small training rooms, administration, classrooms, locker rooms etc.The added spaces around the halls are made in a transparent material which provides additional insulation as well as a greater degree of transparency of the existing building complex - displaying the activities taking place inside and outside the wrapped rooms.
A new health center and a new multi hall is added to the building complex as seperate new buildings.A climbing tower and a diving tower is placed in the center of the complex, allowing the users to experi-ence the building complex and the surrounding nature from above.
The hallway between the buildings is covered by a glass roof which serves as a semi heated ‘rambla’ where events and social activities can take place. The rambla binds all the buildings together and makes the whole building complex more energy ef-ficient.The entrances to the new complex are facing the different surrounding neighborhoods, inviting the citizens inside.
The outdoor spaces and parking spaces are designed to compliment the buildings form and functions.The sports center is located in a green park, and the design proposal aims to soften the transition between building and landscape by adding transparency, green roofs and green courtyards into the building complex, allowing nature to be a greater part of the interior sport activities. The glass roof of the rambla allows daylight into the entire complex, creating an open and transparent sports center.
The project was created during employment with COBE Architects in collaboration with four other architects.

VERTICAL GARDEN, JAPANESE CULTURE HOUSE IN SEATTLE
Studio project, 3.000 m2, University of Washington, 2009.Responsibilities: individual studio project, performing all phases of the project.
This studio project is a design proposal for a Japanese Culture House in Seattle, WA. The project is named Vertical Garden, since the building is constructed around large cherry trees, whose appear-ance constantly interact with the buildings interior and exterior.The building’s fluid transitions between inside and outside as well as the opportunity to experience the tree roots, trunks and crowns on different floors creates a dynamic building and a different experi-ence throughout the annual seasons and staging of nature. To move around in the building will be like climbing a tree.
