The 16PF Questionnaire is designed to measure the personality dimensions that underlie individual
behaviour. Using a common framework that can be applied to all individuals, the 16PF Questionnaire predicts
how people are likely to behave in certain situations and interact with others.
This report firstly presents information on Katherine's response style, which is included to enhance
understanding and confirm the accuracy of her profile. Her scores on the various factors of the 16PF
Questionnaire, known as Primary Factors, are then presented. These are grouped together under five Global
Factors, which provide a useful structure in which to better understand and interpret Katherine's resulting
profile.
The table below displays the Global Factors and associated Primary Factors included in the 16PF
Questionnaire. Please note that some Primary Factors contribute to multiple Global Factors and therefore
appear more than once in the table below. The interpretation of these factors will differ slightly depending on
their associated Global Factor. Please also note that the Reasoning Factor, a Primary Factor of the 16PF
Questionnaire, is not included in this report. The Reasoning Factor is concerned with reasoning ability rather
than temperament or personality, and does not contribute to any of the Global Factors. For these reasons,
this factor has been excluded from this questionnaire.

The 16PF Questionnaire includes three scales that provide insight into Katherine's test-taking attitude and
response style. This information is important to consider when interpreting and confirming the accuracy of
Katherine's report. A brief description of these scales and her score on each are presented below.
The Impression Management scale measures the extent to which an individual has presented themselves in
an overly positive fashion. A response style that is too positive can indicate that undesirable attitudes or
tendencies have been suppressed by the candidate.
Scale Score
Impression Management Typical
Katherine's score on the Impression Management scale is within the expected range, indicating a typical
pattern of responding.
The Acquiescence scale measures the extent to which an individual has responded in agreement to most
questions, regardless of the content. An acquiescent response style indicates that an individual has tended to
respond with 'yes' or 'true' to a large number of questions rather than choosing answers based on question
content.
Scale Score
Acquiescence Typical
Katherine's score on the Acquiescence scale is within the expected range, indicating a typical pattern of
responding.
The Infrequency scale measures the extent to which an individual has responded to a large number of items
in a way that is different to most people. High scores on this scale may indicate a random or careless
response style.
Scale Score
Infrequency Typical
Katherine's score on the Infrequency scale is within the expected range, indicating a typical pattern of
responding.
After Katherine completed the 16PF Questionnaire, her scores on each factor were calculated from the
various responses she provided to the assessment questions. The scores obtained by Katherine only make
sense when they are compared to a relevant comparison group. The group used for comparison is a sample
of Australian adults who have previously completed the 16PF Questionnaire.
Each of the Global and Primary Factors are bipolar, indicating that each end of the scale (left and right side)
has a distinct definition and meaning. The 16PF Questionnaire uses a 'sten' score system (1-10 scale). The
sten score looks at how different an individual's score is from the average score in the comparison group. As
shown in the graph below, a sten score of 5 or 6 is considered to fall in the mid-range and indicates a score
similar to the majority of the comparison group. A sten score of 4 or 7 indicates an individual is likely to show
slight tendencies toward either left-side or right-side behaviours. A sten score of 1-3 or 8-10 indicates the
individual is quite different from the average and is likely to show strong and distinctive behaviour associated
with left-side or right-side scores.
Please note that there are no right or wrong answers on this assessment, and each individual's report should
be considered in relation to the specific requirements of the role. That is, behavioural characteristics that are
considered ideal for one role may not be for another. Furthermore, different individuals' profiles reflect how
they are likely to approach and perform a role differently.
Katherine's scores on the Global and Primary Factors are described in the sections below. It is important to
note that sometimes a left-side score on a Primary Factor contributes to a right-side score on a Global Factor,
and vice versa. An * is used to indicate where this occurs between the Global and Primary Factors in the
sections below.
A summary of Katherine's scores on the Global and Primary Factors is also provided in Appendix A at the
end of this report.
