RA400Z & RA400ZARemote Annunciators

Annunciator Control Systems

DN-6091:A • D-105

GeneralThe System Sensor RA400Z and RA400ZA (Canadian)Remote Annunciators are polarized devices designed for bothconventional and intelligent applications. They have beendesigned using an active current regulator so that the maxi-mum current required from the system is 7 mA when the inputvoltage is within the specified voltage range.

SpecificationsVoltage Range, CONVENTIONAL System: 3.1 to 32 VDC - DO NOT break tab.

Voltage Range, INTELLIGENT System: 18 to 32 VDC - Break tab (see caution note).

CAUTION: DO NOT break tab when using RA400Z or RA400ZAwith an intelligent four-wire duct detector (such as System Sen-sor’s DH500ACDC or NOTIFIER’s DHX-501).

Current Drain: 7 mA maximum.

Temperature Range: -10°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F).

NOTE: For indoor applications only.

Installation The RA400Z/RA400ZA is intended to be mounted to a single-gang electrical outlet box. The device must be operated withinits published specifications. Wire the remote annunciatoraccording to the instructions supplied with the device beingmonitored and in compliance with all codes. Polarity of theincoming wires must be observed and connected to the properterminals “+” and “-” (see figure).

The tab on the back of the remote annunciator must be brokenoff for use with most System Sensor intelligent systems (seefigure and caution under Specifications). After the tab is bro-ken, the input voltage for the RA400Z and RA400ZA is limitedto 18 volts minimum.

The Limitations of Remote Annunciators• The remote annunciator will not work if the device it is

connected to is not powered. The remote annunciatorgets its power from the device to which it is connected. Iffor any reason, the device being monitored loses power, theremote annunciator will not provide the intended visible sig-nal. The RA400Z is suitable for indoor applications only.

• The remote annunciator may not be seen. The modelRA400Z is suitable for direct viewing and is in compliancewith existing Underwriters’ Laboratories standards. Thedevice must be sited in a location where it can be seen bythe intended parties. The device must not be installed indirect sunlight, or areas of high light intensity where the vis-ible signal might be disregarded or not seen.

• This device is designed to work specifically with cer-tain NOTIFIER or System Sensor products. Interconnec-tion with devices other than those specified may result inunsatisfactory operation. Consult device manufacturer forcompatibility.

• The remote annunciator is not intended to be a visiblewarning signal.
