Kidman Parkers .....
"when you get the choice to sit it out or dance....I hope you dance" President Warren Hobbs
Hi Kidman Parkers Some great news that our Tom Bunnik has nominated as KPR 2016/17 President and voted in unanimously. This is super for KPR as Tom will do a very capable job in the role ....Tom has had considerable experience in the past as a 2IC in a semi-professional Football Club in the Netherlands and the numerous roles he has capably handled for KPR on and off the Board. We are in good hands. Excellent Speaker and topic last Tuesday.Chris Menz is CEO of the redevelopment project of Football Park. This is a seriously big dollar project that will change the face of West Lakes.Six storey constructions, a new Aldi and a new location for West Lakes library that will impact and hopefully include our future Bookmart premises. We learned a lot from his presentation. Talking of Aldi, Community Director Brian Mac has been informed that our tender for the BBQ at the opening of the Parafield Aldi on Wed 3rd Feb has been accepted. This is a full day involving 3 shifts and we are hopeful this may give us an entry point to similar and ongoing with the West Lakes Aldi which is under construction.Lets support KPR and Brian by covering a shift at the Parafield opening without waiting to see if others will step up first....Let's each show some leadership.....remember, "I hope you dance" KPR are hosting a Group # 2 Intercity Partners Meeting on Tuesday 23rd February. This includes Henley RC and West Torrens RC.Timing is 6pm for 6.30, and our very topical Speaker with visuals is Don Bubner who has been closely involved with the relief effort after the Pinery Bushfires. This will give us a real insight into the events during and after. KPR has contributed $10000 total to families worst affected by the Bushfires,
and Don has assisted with distribution of $5000 of this.We have been fortunate that Chris Branson has strong connections with Don and the area. Get the date into your calendars as it will be a great night. A reminder that there is no meeting on Australia Day....catch you on Tues 2nd Feb which is Committees Night followed by Board Meeting. It is important that we get your contribution to your Committee group. Enjoy the coming break. Pres Warren

Some info re Guest Speaker Topic February 9th 2016 Julie Monis-Ivett is a Director of the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia).
Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia) is an organisation dedicated to providing a clean and safe birthing environment for women in developing countries to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal morbidity and mortality. Every hour 33 women die of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. An estimated 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, many from preventable infections. Most women we assist for reasons of isolation, cultural choice or poor transport have little or no assistance during childbirth. By providing a clean birthing kit these mothers will have the resources to reduce infection. To promote sustainable change we also fund midwifery training programs to educate Traditional Birth Attendants and complement kit distribution, and to empower these women through education. We work with approved third parties who carry out our work in the country. The Foundation is a not-for-profit non-government organisation (NGO) with no religious or political affiliations. It is an initiative of Zonta Australia and receives widespread support from Rotary Clubs.

Police Clearances for Rotary Volunteers.A new directive from Rotary District 9500 requires all Rotarians and their Partners who participate in projects with “at risk” individuals / groups to have a Police Clearance.
Liz Foote will be the Club’s “Protection Officer”. The role includes citing and recording the Member’s Police clearance.
If you have not yet completed and lodged the Application, it is suggested that you do so as soon as possible as it currently takes a considerable amount of time due to the high numbers of applications being processed.
The Application is FREE OF CHARGE to Rotarians and Partners.
