2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition
REGULATIONS: Group B
The 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition (WWCC) is the inaugural international event for
the discipline of Wing Chun that is hosted by the International Wushu Federation. This event will
provide a platform for practitioners of Wing Chun of all ages and skill levels to compete solely
within the style’s various practices on an unprecedented scale.
Official regulations have been set for two groups of participants (Group A and Group B) due to
different rules among countries and Wing Chun schools worldwide. WWCC participants can
choose to register in one (1) of either Group A or Group B according to their own situation. These
are the official regulations for Group B, which will be based on Domestic (China) rules for
domestic athletes.
The Chinese Wushu Association is responsible for the organization of the 2018 World Wing Chun
Open Competition under the auspices of the IWUF ( Co-organizers : Guangdong Wushu
Association and Foshan High-tech Zone Management Committee; Assisting-organizers: Shishan
Government, Wing Chun Association, Nanhai High-tech Zone Wing Chun Association, Nanhai
High-tech Zone Youth Chamber of Commerce, Shishan Tourism Association).
A. DATE AND PLACEThe WWCC will be held from November 29th to December 3rd, 2018 in Foshan, Guangdong,
China.
B. VENUES1. Competition Venue: Shi Shan Ti Yu Guan (Shi Shan Sports Stadium)
2. Opening & Closing Ceremony Venue: Shi Shan Shi Min Guang Chang (Shi Shan People’s
Square)
C. COMPETITION EVENTSIn order to build a comprehensive Wushu system, support traditional martial arts training,
skill development, and combat proficiency, and restore the basic skills of attacking and
defending, the competition events will include individual routine events, choreographed
sparring events, skill demonstration events, and free combat events.
1. Individual Routine Events:

(Note: Wing Chun Free Fighting is one of the Four-Events Combined Overall
Champion and cannot be registered for as an individual event)
5. Four-Events Combined Overall Champion (Only open to athletes 18-40 years old):
Individual Routine Event + Choreographed Sparring Event + Skill Demonstration
Event Combined + Free Combat Event
D. QUALIFICATIONS1. All official and provisional IWUF Member Federations/Associations are qualified to
participate in the competition.
2. Only those Federations/Associations which have paid their IWUF annual membership
fees for 2017 and 2018 will be permitted to participate in the competition.
3. New IWUF member federations may be invited to take part in the competition after
their applications have been accepted by the IWUF.
4. Participants from countries which do not have an IWUF-recognized member federation,
subject to IWUF approval, may be permitted to participate.
5. All Chinese provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Chinese
Central Government, sports bureaus, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps,
Wushu associations, various industry associations, clubs, Wushu halls, compatriots from
Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese and individuals may register for the
competition.
E. PARTICIPATION METHODS1. Each team may at most register:
One to three (1-3) heads of delegation or team leaders,
Two to six (2-6) team coaches,
One (1) team doctor,
The number of athletes permitted is not limited.
2. Each participant should bring with them a valid Health Certificate (including EEG, ECG,
blood pressure indicators) issued within 15 days prior to the start of the competition and
signed by a qualified doctor, and a Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificate. All
competitors are required to submit a completed and signed waiver of liabilities form with
final registration. For participants under 18 years of age, the waiver of liabilities must be
signed by the participant’s parent or legal guardian.
3. Participants must hold valid ID documents.
4. Participants must apply for accidental accident insurance (Participants can buy insurance
at their own location or at the competition location).
F. COMPETITIONMETHODS1. The competition rules applied will conform to the “Traditional Wushu Routine
Competition Rules and Judging Methods,” the “ Nanquan Routine Competition Rules”,
the “ Wing Chun Chi Sao Combat Scoring Method”, “ Wingchun Muk Yan Jong (Wooden
Dummy) Scoring Method,” and the “ Wing Chun Free Fighting Competition Rules.”
Technical routines are based on the “ Guangdong Nanquan Duanwei System Tutorial —
Wing Chun” (specifications that were formulated by Guangdong Wushu Association), and
the Jury of Appeals shall settle rules or ruling disputes.
2. Four-Events Combined Overall Champion placing method:
Values for the Four-Events Combined Overall Champion events are as follows:
40% for Individual Routine
10% for Chi Sao
10% for Wooden Dummy
40% for Wing Chun Free Fighting
G. EVENT TIME LIMITS1. Traditional Wing Chun bare hand routines and weapon routines must be executed in
their entirety without alteration and conform to the time limits below:
Individual Bare Hand Routine Events
▪ Siu Nim Tao – Between 1 and 2 minutes in total duration
- The head judge will signal by blowing a whistle at the 1:30 mark
▪ Chum Kiu – Between 1 and 2 minutes in total duration
- The head judge will signal by blowing a whistle at the 1:30 mark
▪ Biu Jee – Between 1 and 2 minutes in total duration
- The head judge will signal by blowing a whistle at the 1:30 mark
Individual Weapon Routine Events
▪ Baat Jaam Do - Between 1 and 2 minutes in total duration
- The head judge will signal by blowing a whistle at the 1:30 mark
▪ Luk Dim Boon Kwan - Between 1 and 2 minutes in total duration
- The head judge will signal by blowing a whistle at the 1:30 mark
2. Choreographed Sparring Events shall be compiled and conform to the below time limits:
Choreographed Sparring Events:
▪ Choreographed Chi Sao (Sticky Hands) - Between 1 and 2 minutes in
total duration (The paired partners must be clearly indicated when
registering)
3. Skill Demonstration Events shall conform to the below time limits:
Skill Demonstration Events:
▪ Muk Yan Jong (Wooden Dummy) - Between 1 and 2 minutes in total
duration
4. The Wing Chun Free Fighting event will adopt the single knockout system. Each bout will
be comprised of three (3) rounds in total. Each round will last for one (1) minute and
thirty (30) seconds and there will be a one (1) minute rest in between rounds.
H. AGE CATEGORIES1. Age Categories for Individual Events
Category A: Up to and including 11 years of age (born after January 1, 2007)
Category B: From 12 to 14 years of age (born between January 1, 2006 and
December 31, 2004)
Category C: From 15 to 17 years of age (born between January 1, 2003 and
December 31, 2001)
Category D: From 18 to 23 years of age (born between January 1, 2000 and
December 31, 1995)
Category E: From 24 to 28 years of age (born between January 1, 1994 and
December 31, 1990)
Category F: From 29 to 32 years of age (born between January 1, 1989 and
December 31, 1986)
Category G: From 33 to 40 years of age (born between January 1, 1985 and
December 31, 1978)
Category H: From 41 to 50 years of age (born between January 1, 1977 and
December 31, 1968)
Category I: From 51 to 59 years of age (born between January 1, 1967 and
December 31, 1959)
60 years of age and above (born before December 31, 1958)
I. WING CHUN FREE FIGHTINGWEIGHT DIVISIONS1. The Wing Chun Free Fighting Event is only open to athletes from 18 to 40 years old.
2. The weight divisions for male competitors are as follows:
48kg (≤48kg)
52kg (>48kg - ≤52kg)
56kg (>52kg - ≤56kg)
60kg (>56kg - ≤60kg)
65kg (>60kg - ≤65kg)
70Kg (> 65kg - ≤70kg)

J. PLACING & AWARDS1. Each individual event within each age group (for men and women) will be awarded as
follows:● 1st place Gold Medal & Certificate● 2nd place Silver Medal & Certificate● 3rd place Bronze Medal & Certificate● 4th – 8th places Certificate (Placing)● Following places Certificate (Merit)
2. In general, each combined overall champion event within each age group (for men and
women) will be awarded as follows:● 1st place Gold Medal & Certificate● 2nd place Silver Medal & Certificate● 3rd place Bronze Medal & Certificate● 4th – 8th places Certificate (Placing)● Following places Certificate (Merit)
3. A “Sportsmanship Award” may be awarded by the organizers based on their evaluation
of participants.
4. Prize Money:Routine Awards: Awards will be given for top three places in Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu,Biu Jee, Baat Jaam Dao, Luk Dim Boon Kwan, Muk Yan Jong and Chi Sao as follows:• 1st place: 300 CNY• 2nd place: 200 CNY
• 3rd Place: 100 CNY
Four-Events Combined Overall Champion Event (18-40 years old) Awards: Awardswill be given for top three places as follows:
• 1st place: 2000 CNY• 2nd place: 1000 CNY• 3rd place: 500 CNY
K. Chinese Wushu Duanwei Grading
A Guangdong Duanwei examination will take place during the competition, and those
participants who are interested may register.
Guangdong Nanquan Duanwei System Tutorial:
• The Wing Chun Duanwei Evaluation from 1-6 Duan will be based on the “Chinese Wushu
Duanwei System Handbook.”
L. ENTRIES1. Final Entry:
The deadline for the final entry to be completed through the online system is 24:00
(Beijing Time) on October 31st, 2018.

3. All final entries must be submitted through the online system. All sections of the online
entry must be completed in full, including name and event registration, and two copies
must be printed on A4 paper and stamped, with one copy sent to the IWUF World Wing
Chun Open Competition Organizing Committee before 5th November 2018, and one copy
held by the participant. Documents should be electronically submitted by email to:

M. ARRIVAL & REGISTRATION1. All participating teams are required to arrive at the designated registration booth and
register with the Organizing Committee at their respective hotels in Foshan, Guangdong,
China no later than 24:00 (Beijing Time) on November 29th, 2018.

Teams that do not arrive and register by the deadline may be denied participation in
the event. Participants may register to arrive prior to or on the above stipulated
deadline, and will be charged in accordance with their submitted booking and
registration. Participants who arrive after the deadline will be charged the daily rate for
each participant in accordance with their submitted registration and booking
irrespective of when the participants actually arrive.
2. Upon arrival, all teams are required to submit the following to the organizing committee:
One (1) color ID photo per participant.
One (1) passport photocopy per participant.
One (1) valid proof of health per participant (issued within 15 days prior to
the start of the competition and signed by a qualified doctor).
Each participant’s completed and signed original waiver of liabilities
(Appendix 8).
One (1) Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificate (participants competing
in Wing Chun Free Fighting must submit a completed Health Certificate).
3. All participating teams are required to submit their full and final arrival and departure
flight details through the Online Registration System with their final entries.

4-Star Hotel: 5 days 4 nights: 1750 CNY/person (double occupancy room), 2550
CNY/person (single occupancy room).
Business Hotel: 5 days 4 nights: 1450 CNY/person (double occupancy room), 2050
CNY/person (single occupancy room).
Double occupancy rooms rates are calculated based on two (2) occupants per
room; single occupancy room rates are calculated based on one (1) occupant per
room. Participants are asked to plan their accommodations accordingly and pay
once their plans are finalized. Participants departing early will not receive a refund
on their room or board.
Event participation fees: 300 CNY/four events/person. Registration fee for each
additional event is 100 CNY/person.
If airport or train station transportation needs to be arranged, there will be a
separate charge according to the attached price list(TBC).

O. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS The composition and terms of reference of the Jury of Appeals shall be
implemented in accordance with the Regulations of the Jury of Appeals.
The judges are authorized by the International Wushu Federation and selected by
the Chinese Wushu Association.
P. WEIGH-INThe weigh-in for Wing Chun Free Fighting athletes will take place at 07:00 (Foshan Time) on
November 30th, 2018.
Q. OTHER MATTERS● All team leaders and coaches are requested to attend the Technical Meeting on the
30th of November, 2018 at 09:00. The location for this meeting will be circulated in due
course.
● All participants are required to obtain Life Accidental Injury Insurance Certificate and
full medical coverage (country or region) for the duration of the event.
● Following arrival, the organizing committee’s medical supervisor has the right to
check the athlete’s physical health condition and should it be deemed that an athlete is
not healthy or fit to compete, his or her participation eligibility will be canceled.
● All athletes are required to attend the initial roll call thirty (30) minutes prior to the
start of their competition event, and be present for all subsequent roll calls.
● Failure to be present for 3 roll calls will result in forfeit.
● Competition clothing and equipment must be provided by competitors themselves
(the wooden dummy will be provided by the competition), and traditional martial arts
clothing and shoes must be worn.
● Following arrival, all teams are requested to carefully check the competition event
draw and order lists. Should there be any objections regarding the competition events,
participant names, the participant in question or the designated team leader must
complete and submit the signed relevant correction form to the organizing committee
before 22:00 on the 29th of November 2018. The Chief Scheduler/Recorder will check
the original submitted registration and should there be a discrepancy between the two,
the information will be amended. Should there be no discrepancy, no amendment will
be made.
● Should, in special circumstances, an athlete’s registered event require changing, the
designated team leader or coach must complete and submit the signed relevant
correction form to the organizing committee before 09:30 on the 30th of November
2018. Following confirmation of amendment, a fee of 100 CNY (one hundred Chinese
yuan) must be paid for each change.

I, the undersigned, knowingly and without duress, do voluntarily submit my Entry to the 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition.
The 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition is hosted by International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and organized by Chinese Wushu
Association; hereafter IWUF and Chinese Wushu Association collectively refer as “Organizing Committee”. In consideration of the
Organizing Committee accepting my application, I hereby assume all risk of physical and mental injuries, disabilities and losses which
may result from or in connection with my participation in the 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition. Acting for myself, heirs,
personal officers, agents, representatives and assignees, I do hereby release the Organizing Committee, its officers, agents,
representatives, volunteers, judges and referees and other related members from all claims, actions, suits, and controversies at law
or in equity by reason of any matter, cause or thing whatsoever that I may sustain as a result of or in connection with my
participation in the 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition. I fully understand that all medical attention or treatment afforded to
me by the Organizing Committee, its officers, medical personnel, representatives, volunteers, and all other related members will be
of the first aid type only, and hereby release the Organizing Committee its officers, representatives, volunteers, and all other related
members from any liability for such aid. I understand it is my obligation to obtain my own medical coverage.
I agree to abide by and follow the Rules established by the Organizing Committee. I agree that I will conduct myself in a professional
and courteous manner at all times and to be subject to penalties and sanctions for violations related thereto. I understand that my
protest must be conducted in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration.
I agree that my performance, attendance, and participation at the 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition may be filmed or
otherwise recorded or released or telecast live. I consent to allow the Organizing Committee use of my name, address, voices, poses,
pictures and biographical data concerning full or parts, in any form or language, with or without other material, throughout the
world, without limitation, for television, radio, video, theatrical medium picture, or any other medium by any devices now known or
hereafter devised and I do hereby waive any compensation in regard thereof as well as any future rights to the aforementioned.
I have read and fully understand the waiver listed above.
