Who are we recruiting?
-Individuals: Joe Volunteer, Interested parties-Groups: Service clubs, stakeholder groups ie: Sponsors
Stats Canada 2007 Report : Caring Canadians, Involved Canadians:
-5.7% Increase in the total # of volunteers from 2004 to 2007-As of 2007 there were almost 12.5 Canadians aged 15 and over who volunteered for charitable or not for profit groups.-11% of them volunteered in sports and recreation organizations & events accounting for 17% of total volunteer hours.
Recruiting at the Manitoba Marathon – Where to start?
-Stakeholder groups: Sponsors, running community, -Schools: volunteer hours etc.-Community organizations – Scouts, service groups, car clubs-Individuals
How do we get the word out there?
•Newspaper ads•Postings in various volunteer websites (Winnipeg Volunteer Centre, MyVop, Concerned party groups)•Radio/TV PSA’s•Attending volunteer fairs•Social networking sites - Facebook•Word of mouth

Thank you for volunteering at the 2010 Manitoba Marathon! It’s volunteers like you that continue to make the Marathon a success year after year. Someone from your area will be in contact with you to confirm your participation and to answer any questions that you may have. We will do our best to place you at your desired location, however if a spot is not available we will try to make other arrangements with you at this time. Here are some important dates concerning the 2010 Marathon: Tuesday June 1st - Volunteer Orientation BBQ – 5:00-7:00pm at Norwood Community CentreFriday June 18th – Manitoba Hydro Pasta Fest – University of MB Investors Group Athletic CentreSunday June 20th - Marathon Day!!
