The Charge: Clinical Practice

Advisory Council 2006

To develop a plan for the creation of a network of Professional Development Schools for the Educator Preparation Programs at Bridgewater State College. This should include a definition of a BSC Professional Development School, a model for the program, a plan for development (over a time period to be chosen by the committee) and a report to be shared with the faculty and faculty/staff of the Schools and BSC Administrators.

Communication

Challenges

Internal and External Websites

Bridgewater State University has two websites

Internal (Intranet) which is available only to faculty, staff, students and administrator. Departments could freely post information

External (extranet) is available to everyone. It is considered the “face of the university”. Restrictions were in place to control content

Communication Challenges

Professional Development School partners could not access information from internal website due to strict security.

There was a need for one location that all internal and external constituents could access

We wanted to bridge the gap in our communication and to showcase the good work the PDS partners are doing in conjunction with BSU

Created www.bsupds.com

Tried a few free website tools until I decided on Weebly.com

Weebly is very intuitive – drag and drop• Many templates to chose from• You may purchase an upgraded account which allows access to more

features

The purchased upgrade gave BSU its own domain name

It also give access to search bar feature, larger file size uploads, ability to control who is approved to create an account

Mindmap (Lucidchart)Used a mindmap to layout my ideas and how best to group them
