City of Bowling Green, KentuckyBrownfields Redevelopment Program

EYESORE TO ASSET

A brownfield is defined as a proper-ty, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be compli-cated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant. Challeng-es unique to brownfields redevelop-ment include environmental liability concerns, financial barriers, cleanup considerations, and reuse planning. Through federal grant funding, the EPA’s Brownfields Program removes some of these barriers and serves as an empowerment tool for land and community revitalization.
