Course Catalog
August 26 The day’s professional learning will explore the integration of technology in classroom instruction. Each of the sessions will focus on a variety of concepts: management, collaboration, creativity, communication, and critical thinking, as well as how these skills help prepare our students for a 21st century society. Each teacher will select four, one-hour sessions to attend throughout the day. Please see “Essential Sessions” to help you make the appropriate choices for your 2014-2015 teaching assignment.

If not, check out our quick user orientation for iPad where we will cover shortcuts, screenshots, gestures, battery life, app management, and a basic overview of the device. iPad 102 Beginner to Intermediate/All Grade Levels Continue your usage and understanding of the Apple iPad through this companion course to iPad 101. We will cover finding, downloading, and sharing apps, as well as setting up email, and iCloud capabilities. Airwatch Teaching Tools - NEW CLASS! AirWatch Teacher Tools is a powerful resource that enables educators to integrate technology in the classroom and enhance how they interact with students and the curriculum.
iPad in Lower Elementary Beginner to Intermediate/Grades K-2 Explore the questions to consider, most efficient uses, and possible management strategies during this collaborative course on using iPads and technology in the lower elementary classroom. 3rd Grade iPad Management Beginner to Advanced/Third Grade Explore the questions to consider, most efficient uses, and possible management strategies during this collaborative course on using iPads and technology in the third grade classroom. 6th Grade iPad Management Beginner to Advanced/Sixth Grade Explore the questions to consider, most efficient uses, and possible management strategies during this collaborative course on using iPads and technology in the sixth grade classroom.
Collaboration Courses Build Interactive & Collaborative Lessons with Educreations Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Educreations is a recordable interactive whiteboard that captures your voice and handwriting to produce amazing video lessons that you can share online. Students and colleagues can replay your lessons in any web browser, or from within the app on their iPads. Build a Deeper Group Discussion with Padlet Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Padlet is a free Internet application that allows people to express their thoughts on a common topic easily. It works like an online sheet of paper where educators can put any content (e.g. images, videos, documents, text) anywhere on the page, together with anyone from any device.
Integration of SMART Notebook Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels SMART Notebook lets teachers create high-impact lessons, access high-quality education content and engage students with unique interactive learning. SMART Notebook for iPad is a light version of the SMART Notebook collaborative learning software. Using this app, you can both use and edit SMART Notebook lesson activities for individual and collaborative learning with an iPad. Tap into the Creative Mind with iMovie Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels iMovie is a dynamic app that enables you and your students to create digital movies that can inform, explain, teach, persuade, and/or entertain. You and your students can create compelling projects that combine digital video, photos, music, text and voice narration. You can create lesson videos and tutorials that students could access 24/7 or share best classroom practices with your peers.
Audio Projects Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Allow students and teachers to create podcasts, announcements, how to audio guides, soundtracks, spoken word, voice overs and more with no additional equipment. Programs may include, but are not limited to GarageBand, Spreaker, etc. Visual Projects Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Allow students and teachers to create, edit, and display art projects through various iPad apps. Programs may include, but are not limited to Paper, iPhoto, SketchBook, Comic Maker, etc..
Communication Courses Schoology 101: Building a Classroom Community Beginner to Intermediate/All Grade Levels Schoology is an online learning management system (LMS) focused on collaboration that allows users to create, manage, and share academic content. Begin to learn about the basic features and overview of Schoology: compelling reasons for use, setting up courses/groups, parent codes, user policy, etc. Schoology 102: Enhancing a Classroom Community Intermediate to Advanced/All Grade Levels Advance your learning of what Schoology has to offer by exploring assignments, note taking, online quizzes, gradebook, collaboration tools, and resources. Teachers will be able to create updates/class messages, organize events in the calendar feature, and provide feedback for student work.
Storage, Editing & Sharing Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Knowing the options of storage, editing, and sharing documents, images, videos, etc. will allow for more opportunities for communication and collaboration in the classroom. Explore the uses and efficiency of programs such as, but not limited to, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, etc. Implement Electronic Communication with Notability Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Notability is a powerful way to sketch ideas, annotate documents, sign contracts, complete worksheets, keep a journal, record a lecture, jot travel notes, or teach a class. You can even import forms, contracts, worksheets, documents, presentations, and even books to be annotated directly on the device.
Communication Courses Exploring the Global World with Skype Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Allow your students to explore the world around them through videoconferencing opportunities. Skype is an IP telephony service that enables file transfers, texting, video chat and videoconferencing. The service is available for desktop computers, notebook and tablet computers and other mobile devices, including mobile phones.

Weebly offers over 100 page design template sand multimedia features such as photo galleries, slideshows, integrated maps, video and audio. Formative Assessment with Socrative Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Socrative is a smart student response system that empowers teachers by engaging their classrooms with a series of formative assessments through polls, surveys, quizzes, and games. Socrative runs on tablets, smartphones, desktops, and laptops. Teachers and students log in to a virtual classroom that provides instant results to help assess students’ grasp of a particular lesson.
Incorporating Educational Media Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Learn how to access a variety of educational media resources through iPads, Smartphones, laptops, and desktops. These resources will allow teachers and students to access current events and up-to-date research through audio, video, images, and text. Programs may include, but are not limited to Flipboard, PBS, TED Talks, Podcasts, YouTube, Newsela, etc.
Student Reference Materials Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Teachers will be exposed to a variety of apps and online resources that are meant to increase productivity for their students in the classroom and beyond. These may include, but are not limited to Goodreader, Flashcards, Quizlet, Skitch, Explain Everything, and Khan Academy.
Content Area Courses Math Apps & Web Tools Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Recommended apps and web-based tools for a Math classroom/unit will be presented during this course. Programs may include, but are not limited to Desmos, Myscript Calculator, WolframAlpha, Vernier Graphical Analysis, GeoGebra, etc. English Apps & Web Tools Beginner to Advanced/All Grade Levels Recommended apps and web-based tools for an Language Arts classroom/unit will be presented during this course. Programs may include, but are not limited to Turnitin.com, Book Creator, Flowboard, SUBTEXT, Dragon Dictation, etc. Documenting Special Education Students’ Performance with OneNote Beginner to Advanced/Special Education Teachers Using OneNote to document, organize and store special education students’ performance toward achieving their behavioral and academic goals.
Math HMH Beginner to Advanced/8-12 Math Teachers Learn how to integrate the Dynamic Assessment Tool with Big Ideas Math instruction.
