HFC Network UpgradeEffective solutions for extending network capacity
Increasing customer requirements, the implementation of new services and technologies and strong market competition all lead to the fact that broadband service providers are challenged to expand the capacity of their Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) networks.
&'() )*(*) +)-77-9:# ( ( ) ;*+*) )-(*&'+*-and competitiveness in the face of the increasing demands of subscribers.
While traditional HFC networks work with e.g. a 862MHz bandwidth, the extension up to 1GHz or 1,2 GHz provides an increase of the total bandwidth which can be split for both Upstream and Downstream. The extension of the bandwidth enables operators to offer a wider range of services.
The most popular scenario implemented by many cable operators to increase the available bandwidth per subscriber is node splitting and deeper network segmentation in order to share the available bandwidth between a smaller number of customers connected to the same optical node cluster.

RFoG – RF over Glassa transition technology to FTTH
RF over Glass (RFoG) is a technique used in the access network using the same RF/DOCSIS technology as traditional HFC systems. The coax part of the network is replaced by the Passive Optical network (PON). The signals can be ">" "" #?@<* + !JKJ"+on the subscriber’s side and headend equipment, are supported by RFoG and can operate further. It allows for future smooth migration to Next Gen xPON.

Business CaseRF Video Overlay for FTTH networks
RF Video Overlayfor FTTH networks
RF Video Overlay is a solution for telecommunications operators who apply xPON technology or Ethernet P2P to insert television services (analogue TV/FM signal and digital television) over an extra parallel bandwidth without reducing the present capacity. While not using any subscriber’s devices e.g. STB, the Video Overlay reduces CAPEX spending. Two separate parallel systems enable the operator to deliver more services thus increasing his offer and competitiveness.

1. Reduce the time services are unavailable to subscribers 2. Reduce defect correction costs 3. Reduce the quantity of subscribers affected during the occurrence of ingress 4. Exploit the return channel bandwidth more effectively
Ingress is a problem which occurs in every cable television network. Whenever it is present there are generally serious operational issues, including the most consumer sensitive one - the disturbance of upstream communication of cable modems. In a highly competitive Broadband market, Quality of Service is vital to customer retention +@7) *9*(-Operators across the world.
How system works
The ingress switch system provides a simple and intuitive solution to locate the source of ingress in the coaxial cable distribution plant of an HFC network. It comprises of Headend Controller, Web Based application and IS plant modules installed in ampli-) -@ )-convenient solution for ensuring network reliability by detecting, locating, and resolving ingress in a matter of minutes.
Headend Controller
The HEADEND unit is a powerful headend microcomputer witch embedded WEB-server. The Control Unit controls the status of addressable IS modules.
