Primary School Legionowo

The name of our town Legionowo comes from Latin (legions mean soldiers). Our great- grandfathers fought bravely during World War II for our freedom.

John Paul II

(the pope) was special for us. There’s a park named after him with the statue in the middle. We often go there to walk and play.

Many streets in our town have their names after famous Polish writers or kings.

There’s a train station in Legionowo.

We can get to Warsaw (the capital of Poland) by train. It takes half an hour. Every day lots of people from Legionowo go to work or to school in Warsaw.

Our money is called złoty and grosz

We use notes and coins

There are many shops and a few big shopping centres in our town.

The most popular supermarket is Biedronka (it means ‘ladybird’).

We can do some shopping at school. In each school there’s a small shop for pupils to buy food, drinks, stationary etc. We like it!

We can’t imagine our Sunday lunch without chicken soup. It’s served with noodles, cooked carrot and some parsley.

Yummy!

We love pierogi - boiled dough pockets filled with meat, cheese, fruit, cabbage

or mushrooms.

We start the day with a cup of tea or coffee. We often drink grain coffee (malt coffee) with

sugar and milk. It gives energy!

We’re keen on sport! Football, basketball, valleyball, running, gymnastics, tennis - anything! There’s a special place in our town where we can train and watch sport events.

Arena Legionowo

There are many playgrounds in our town. Anyone can use them any time they want. It’s great fun !

There are forests around our town. We can go there for a walk, to ride a bike or have a picnic.

We can collect mushrooms there

Daisies and dandelions are the most common flowers found in the meadows in our region.

Girls make garlands with daisies and dandelions to wear for special occasions

We don’t wear school uniforms. We put on a T-shirt, a jumper, jeans and trainers.

The school year in Poland always starts on 1st of September and it finishes on 25th of June. Our summer holidays last

two long months

We have a good rest!

Have a good time on your holidays!
