• Unemployment and Resource Room are located on the 3rd floor of 303 N Main St, Rockford, IL
• Free Parking – In the parking garage enter from N Main St or Wyman St
• From the garage take the garage elevator to the 3rd floor and enter the building
• All appointments must check in with the receptionist on the 3rd floor

The Dislocated Worker and Rock River Training Corp
Next
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is a federal program that funds local programs (e.g. Dislocated Worker Program and Rock River Training Corp) to provide an array of job seeking services to eligible participants
Both programs offer help with training and required book expenses. The only difference between the two are the eligibility requirements.
General Eligibility Requirements for WIA programs
1)Must be authorized to work in the United States
2)If you are a male born after December 31, 1959 you MUST be Selective Service compliant.
3)Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application for DWP and Adult programs.

Requirements for DWPDetermined eligible to receive , currently receiving or exhausted
unemployment benefits
Job of dislocation was in a declining industry or low growth occupation
Formerly self-employed ,but are no longer employed (Must provide verification of business ownership and closure)

You are currently or have been determined eligible to receive Link/SNAP/Food stamps in the past 6 months
You are currently receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
You are receiving Supplemental Social Security Income (This is not social security disability, retirement or survivors benefits)
You are receiving township assistance

WIA Services TrainingWhether you are interested in completing
• a GED• taking basic computer classes• pursuing a certificate or college degree
WIA programs provide financial assistance to eligible participants. Approval of training is based on an individual assessment and counselor approval.
Funding for training programs is based on availability of funds through the respective WIA programs
