The various roles of the president-elect…

Wingman• The Wingman was originally a term

referring to the plane flying beside and slightly behind the lead plane in an aircraft formation.

• To conserve fuel by reducing air resistance and turbulence

• To position the aircraft in such a way as to enhance mutual survival in a hostile environment.

Co-pilot

• At times, you may have to fly the plane– Conduct a board meeting– Speak on behalf of the president

Chief Operating Officer• Your president is leading from 80,000 feet

above providing strategic guidance to enable other board members to do their jobs.

• You are on the ground. Your role is more tactical. You are the “go-to” person regarding processes, practices, procedures.

Succession Planner

• This year is your time to encourage and develop potential leaders around you
