Burn-‐out seems to be a persistent problem in the midst of the many responsibilities we need to do in our hurried lives. Practicing balance, knowing how to take care of one’s self, and practicing mindfulness can be effective ways to prevent burn-‐out.
Awareness of our own needs and how to address them is necessary to prevent burnout. Knowing how to do this leads to one being more compassionate and attuned to the needs of others.
Taking care of others is not easy.
Psychologists, doctors, social workers, counselors, coaches, community organizers,
teachers, parents, and anyone who has ever cared for another person know how difficult and stressful this
can be.
In this talk, foremost Filipino Psychologist, best-‐selling author, and practitioner of mindfulness Dr. Ma. Lourdes “Honey” Carandang, shares how one can BALANCE taking care of oneself with taking care of others. In her book, Back to Basics: The Seven Basic Psycholological Needs, she emphasizes that BALANCE is the key to emotional and spiritual well-‐being. This year, she will focus on the practice of mindfulness as a helpful ally in the process of self-‐care. Join us as we listen and learn! Let us all build a caring community together!
