and try to do it twice a year (CVs; Bio Sketch; Teaching Portfolio)

• Keep track of the date of up-dating

Tips and Strategies• Do Not include: SSN, age, race,

marital status, children, disability, political affiliation, religion, salary, DEA numbers

Tips and Stategies• FONT: Use 12-18 point font for Name;

12-14 pt for headings; 10-12 pt for text. Use same font throughout and do not use flowery fonts

• FORMAT: Be consistent and concise; include page number and name header on each page and be neat

Tips and Strategies• Paper: Use white/off-white 22-24 lb

paper• Printing: Use laser printer• Proofread and Spell Check• For external CV: Avoid placing dates in

left-hand margin as this emphasizes the date and not the activity

• Collect things as they occur eg in “real” time—don’t try to look for them later

Tips and Strategies re: Publications

• List in chronological order for ease of updating

• Number them• Highlight your name in bold• If you are not first author on

publications for which your trainee is first, note that with asterisk
