Preparing For Exam WeeksPreparing For Exam WeeksStrategies and SolutionsStrategies and Solutions

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the

peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your

minds in Christ Jesus.

Understanding StressUnderstanding Stress

Stress is the psychological, emotional, and physiological response to an event or situation in your life.

Stress can be positive or negative, large or small. What is stressful to you may not be stressful to someone eles.

It is how you react to a stressful event that determines whether or not the event is positive or negative. It is how you cope or respond to stress that makes a difference.

According to experts, stress is a burst of energy that basically advises you on what to do. In small doses, stress has many advantages. For instance, stress can help you meet daily challenges and motivate you to reach your goals

Feeling stressed can feel perfectly normal, especially during exam time. You might notice that sometimes being stressed-out motivates you to focus on your work, yet at other times, you feel incredibly overwhelmed and can’t concentrate on anything

Managing StressManaging Stress

1. Problem solving, Goal setting, Time Management, Nutrition

2. Learn to re-interpret the stressors; use self talk, personal affirmations

3. Reduce stress arousal; regular sleep patterns, relaxation, massage, meditation, visualization

4. Vent or release the stress; physical exercise

5. Pinpoint the sources of your stress so you can deal with it. Talk things through with a parent or staff member. Keep a journal to help find out what situations are causing you stress, then do something about it.

6. Not being in control of a situation can add to the stress you are feeling. Think about the steps you can take to deal with the stressful situation, then take action.

7. Take charge, plan ahead and make good decisions.

8. To be most effective, stress management should become part of one’s lifestyle, not just a technique to be used if one gets “stressed out”
