Possibilities of new audio and video IT

with all age groups in rural areas

Tools, methods and curricula in the area of mobilization of rural population -seminar 1.-3.3.2011 in Finland.

Ways to use 1:Between Young and Older people

• Young people can also continue with material and • edit recorded material to shorter programs

• present programs in media (Internet, Community media) or ”live cinema” in village party (with dataprojector)

• Editing work can be done also together with some older people, those who are telling the stories

• Young and older people can also do together more, carry out the planning and also realisation of the project (and evaluation)

Ways to use 1:Between Young and Older people

• It’s possible to learn how to use recorders and cameras and also editing programmes

• It’s possible to make recordings and videos before editing anything

• It’s very useful to record and save both present living and happenings and also stories about old times

• To record ”raw material” to archive

Ways to use 2:Older people themselves together

• History and future are made similiary now• Theme happenings – festival, weekend, evening• Could theme be decennies? 60’s, 70’s, 80’s - 90’s

• Or something else, construction/buildings, education…

• Pieces of self made radio/video programmes could be shown then

• And arrange new live-discussions, witch can also record by video or audio recorder

Ways to use 3:All people together

• Co-operation between villages • visits and visitors

• Presentations of short video/audio in common live happenings

• Discussion the same experienges, comparison

• Also in Internet

• Co-operation inside and between areas

Ways to use 3:All people together

• Can audio/video recording and editing activities help find common language and new discusion between age groups (young and older people)?

• Could the 3rd age -people find themselves new activities with audio/video recording and editation, too?

• Could it be possible to express better the needs of rural areas using also audio/video programmes in Internet and Community media and in real life meetings?
