profileOmar Mohsen has walked through live WWII minefields and

visited a leper colony in his quest to photograph parts of the

world that most people never see.

After graduating from the Cairo Cinema Academy in 2000 with a

bachelor’s degree in cinematography, Omar was set for a career

in movies. However, his love of still photography won the day,

and his talent and experience have lead him to shoot campaigns

for international promotion for trade and industry investment,

five-star hotel chains, as well as multinational corporations and

advertising agencies.

Renowned for bringing international photographic style to Egyptian media, Omar keeps up-to-date with

the nation’s current affairs by regularly taking assignments from International Business Associate’s

three English-language publications, including Egypt Today and Business Today Egypt. He has also

freelanced for other major publications such as Carnival Arabia and Travel Today Arabia, as well as

Horus EgyptAir in-flight magazine, and the American Chamber of Commerce, German Chamber of

Trade magazines.

Omar’s passion for photography started when he was 16 years old following interest in his father’s work

– Dr. Mohsen Allam, Egypt’s leading photo editor and one of the most reputable photojournalists in the

country. From the very beginning, his father taught him a lot about the art of photography, especially

ways of creating deep artistic photographs. This gave Omar strength in his work to transform a basic

scene to the untrained eye into a captivating artistic image using traditional photography techniques

without requiring the extra use of picture-enhancing computer technology.

Omar lives in Cairo with his wife and son. His location photography continues to take him across Egypt,

Europe and the Far East.
