Exhibition Model.

Intended Implementation Area.

Design Sketch.

Alternative Design For Flower Pots.

Client : Municipality of Eindhoven Project : Design a product that increases the social coherence in a troubled neighbourhood and gives the residence a sense of pride over their neighbouhood.

Solution: A communal street decoration lifts up the appearance of the street. Each household is responsible for the flower pot in front of its house. By nurturing the plants, each household make a contribution to the appearance of the street. Neglecting the plants will result in lesser growth, which will be clearly visible. It should stimulate active participation in the system.

Intended target group: waiting people.

Intended target group: waiting people.

Project: Increase the amount and the value of interaction between strangers in a public space.

Solution: Wanderlight is a interactive floor for environments where people are waiting, such as the train station. The tiles agents in a decentralized system and recognise if a person is standing on them. Upon recognition a light ‘wanders’ form this person from tile to tile until it reaches a second person; virtually connecting them.

Exploration of mechanisms.

Final model in ‘play music’ mode.

Project: Design a media player that can play music, videos, photo’s, and radio. Changing between different types of media should be done by adjusting the physical appearance of the device.

Solution: For adjusting the volume the speakers can be revealed or hidden. Showing more of the speakers will increase the volume. Changing between video and music can be done by flipping the stand: it will activate the screen.

Backside of final model. Media disk gets inserted. Browsing by rotation.

Exploration of form and size.

CamelendarInteraction Design

Project: Design a product that will support people with aphasia in the activity: conversational story telling.

Solution: Camelendar is an application for a tablet computer. The application archives photos and images per day: this makes daily stories. The user can access the stories through a calendar that displays one of the photos per day. Alone or together with the conversation partner the user can add comments and drawings directly on a specific location of the photo: increasing the complexity and/or clarity of the story.
