March & April 2011, Volume 2011, Number One

Outside the window of my office I see many things. I see squirrels playing, jumping from one tree to another. Of course, I see many cars passing by…some going very fast, some going very slow and then there are those who obey the speed limit. Today I see daffodils blooming in anticipation of warmer weather. As my mind wanders, I can’t help but wonder “What does God see?” Does He see a world that is lost and sinking deeper into sin? Does He see people driving by my office who need to know that Jesus is the Savior of the world? Do they even know that the answer is Jesus and not money, fame or worldly possessions? And then the thought occurs to me…I am a child of the King. I am sealed by His precious Blood. I should see things the way He sees them. If I see people the way Jesus sees them, “I’ll want to make sure that they know about repentance, the blood that washes white as snow, and eternity. I need to put on my “Jesus glasses” and tell. How about you? What do you see when you look our your window on the world?

Thoughts From the Ministry Center

From Your Associational Missionary

I recently received a report from Lifeway Research that caught my attention and left me feeling sad and empty. The report stated that currently the SBC has 16.2 million members. It goes on to state that if current baptism and membership trends continue, SBC membership will decline to 8.7 million by 2050. I don’t know about you, but this deeply troubles me. This is a trend that needs to be reversed. I think all of us need to ask...”What can my Church do to change this trend?”
