New Delhi: Launching a sharp attack on ArvindKejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, Congress presidentSonia Gandhi on Sunday accused it of shying awayfrom Delhi as it thought that running a governmentwas a "child's play".
Targeting Kejriwal, whose party was mainlyresponsible for the rout of Congress in Delhi pollslast December, she said, "Some people believed thatrunning government was a child's play. You haveseen how they have run away from Delhi."
The Congress president was speaking in arally at the Karol Bagh area in the national capitalwhere she attacked BJP's prime ministerial candi-date Narendra Modi and AAP's Kejriwal in thesame breath.
The move to take on AAP was obvious as theparty had eaten up into the majority of Congressvote bank in the last Assembly elections in Delhiwhere the ruling party was left with just eight seatsin the 70-member Assembly with its Chief Minister
Sheila Dikshit routed by more than 25,000 votes inthe New Delhi seat.
Although Kejriwal went on to become Chief
Minister with outside support from Congress, heresigned on February 14 after a 49-day stint at thehelm. In all the seven seats in the national capital,
there is a three-cornered contest between Congress,BJP and AAP where elections are slated to be heldon April 10.
AAP has fielded Jarnail Singh from WestDelhi and Devindra Sehrawat from South Delhiwhere Congress candidates are sitting MPsMahabal Mishra and Ramesh Kumar respectively.Union minister Kapil Sibal will also get a toughfight at Chandni Chowk constituency with BJPfielding its Delhi unit chief Harsh Vardhan and AAPnominating journalist-turned-politician Ashutosh.
Ajay Maken will also have to get past not justBJP's Meenakshi Lekhi but AAP's another journal-ist-turned-politician Ashish Khetan, founder ofinvestigative website Gulail.com.
In East Delhi constituency, Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, will face challenge from AAP's Rajmohan Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and BJP's MaheshGirri.

New Delhi: The Delhi Election
Commission has decided to make customised
arrangements for people with special needs at
polling booths across the city to encourage
them to exercise their franchise in the Lok
Sabha elections.
Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Dev
said the Commission was working on a unique
software for voters with special needs through
which they will be able to communicate to the
EC their specific requirements on the polling
day.
The software will be available on Delhi
Election Commission's website within a week
and differently-abled voters will have to regis-
ter their names, addresses and specific
requirements.
"The aim of the initiative is to provide all
required facilities to them for making their
voting experience a pleasant one," said Dev.
"For example, if there is a requirement for
a wheelchair for a particular voter or if the
person needs an attendant, we can try to pro-
vide such facilities on polling day if we have
information about it in advance," he added.
The Chief Electoral Officer said the soft-
ware will not only help voters with disabilities
but also enable the Commission to prepare a
database of voters with special needs.
"No data is available on the number of dis-
abled voters and hence it becomes difficult to
arrange for special facilities for them," said
Dev.
However, National Centre for Promotion
of Employment for Disabled People
(NCPEDP) figures put the number of differ-
ently abled people in the city at around 2.5
lakh.
Dev said there have been certain official
instructions, including for the availability of
ramps and Braille ballots at polling booths
during earlier elections as well.
"But their needs have never been evaluated
from their perspective hence either they
refrain from voting or their experience is not a
good one," he said.

Vaidehi SachinThere is no wonder if
Mayawati emerges as primeminister of this country. UPand Bihar politics has playedcrucial role in making andbreaking the power. Har harnamo and nomo namo hashurt the religious sentimentsof many in Uttar pardesh andswami Swaprupanandji likesaints has already decided notto support Modi. Amit Shah’sunwanted comments of sidelining all Brahmins from BJPparty have given another set-back. Already many havedescribed Modi as a divisiveleader, BSP supremoMayawati expressed fear thatthe country may witness riotsif he wins power at the centre.Anyways Modi supporters arereally not bothered about thegrowth, development or anyother issues; they just know ifthe “Train Is burned, Modiburned entire community” thecraze for Hindi Rashtra hastaken over all merits and demerits of Modi as Prime min-
ister. This election is purely,communal.
However, BJP is loopingmany Muslim celebrities andcandidates in party to showthere secular stand but thatreally make any difference towin over Muslins heart andconfidence of Muslims forModi.. In the nutshell Modiwaves are fading in UP,Congress has failed to utilizethis opportunity by assumingthat the Party has no futurethis time. The top brass ofCongress, such as Sonia,Rahul and Priyank and othershave already accepted theirdefeat, maybe that’s the rea-son the parliamentary contest-ants are not receiving fundsand support from party.Congress’s disinterest and antiModi campaign will deffinate-ly benefit Mayawati in UP,and one who succeed in UttarPradesh has bright chances inpower.
BJP is the recent time act-ing like one man party; manysenior leaders are sidelinedand randomly ignored. There
are many spoilers with inparty, such as Sushma swarj,Murlimanohar joshi, Rajnathto some extent as his Thakurpolitics makes him greedy attimes, Advani was biggestchallenge for party in therecent past. Advani’s contin-ued anger against the partyleadership looks quite obviousbecause now BJP has becomea one man show run by Modi.Advani is a senior leader ofthe Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), the current oppositionin the Indian Parliament. When the BJP-led NationalDemocratic Alliance was inpower from 1998–2004 underPrime Minister Atal BihariVajpayee, Advani served asHome Minister and DeputyPrime Minister (the latter in2002–04). He was the Leaderof the Opposition in the 10thLok Sabha and 14th LokSabha (lower house ofParliament. Advani began hispolitical career as a volunteerof Rashtriya SwayamsevakSangh, his life as a social ser-vant started in 1947 when he
was elected as the Secretary,Rashtriya SwayamsevakSangh (RSS), Karachi.Advani was later sent toMatsya-Alwar in Rajasthan, which had witnessed commu-nal violence followingPartition, to oversee the affairsof the RSS there. He is notonly senior leader but alsomentored many leaders inBJP. Advani became a mem-ber of the Bharatiya JanaSangh, also known simply asthe Jana Sangh, which wasfounded in 1951 by SyamaPrasad Mookerjee. He becamemember of the Rajya Sabhafrom Delhi for the six yeartenure from 1970.[4] Afterserving various positions inthe Jana Sangh, he became itsPresident in 1973 at theKanpur session of the partyworking committee. His firstact as president of the BJSwas to expel founder memberand veteran leader BalrajMadhok from primary mem-bership of the party for sup-posedly repeatedly violatingthe party directives and acting
against the interests of theparty. He was a Rajya Sabhamember from Gujarat from1976 to 1982. When JaiPrakash Narayan, who led thepublic movement against theEmergency refused to cam-paign for the opposition par-ties unless all of them joinedtogether, the Jana Sangh andmany other opposition partiesmerged into the Janata Party. With the dissolution of theJana Sangh, Advani and hiscolleague Atal BihariVajpayee joined the JanataParty to fight the Lok SabhaElections of 1977. The JanataParty was formed by politicalleaders and activists of vari-ous political parties who hadbeen united in opposing thestate of Emergency imposedin 1975 by then-PrimeMinister Indira Gandhi. Afterelections were called in 1977,the Janata Party was formedfrom the union of theCongress (O), the SwatantraParty, the Socialist Party ofIndia, the Jana Sangh and theLok Dal.

New Delhi: TheSupreme Court on Mondaycommuted the death sen-tence of 1993 Delhi bombblast case convict andKhalistani terroristDevinderpal Singh Bhullarto life term on the ground ofdelay in deciding his mercyplea and his medical condi-tion.
A four-judge benchheaded by Chief Justice PSathasivam granted life toBhullar on the ground ofdelay on the part of the gov-
ernment in deciding hismercy plea and also on thebasis of his present medicalcondition.
The bench, also com-prising justices R M Lodha,H L Dattu and S JMukhopadhaya, passed theorder on a curative petitionfiled by Bhullar's wifeNavneet Kaur.
She pleaded before thecourt to relook into its ver-dict, in which Bhullar's pleafor commuting the sentence
was rejected, in view of itsrecent judgement where itwas held that delay indeciding mercy plea can bea ground for commutationof death penalty.
Bhullar was convictedand awarded death penaltyfor triggering a bomb blastin New Delhi in September1993, which killed nine per-sons and injured 25 others, including then YouthCongress president M SBitta.
The Centre had earlier
on March 27 told the courtthat it had no problem withcommutation of Bhullar'sdeath sentence to life term.It had said that the petitionin this regard has to beallowed in view of thecourt's January 21 verdictthat delay in decidingmercy pleas can be aground for such relief.
The bench had onJanuary 31 stayed Bhullar'sexecution and had agreed toreview its judgement bywhich it had rejected the

SOUTH DIVISION PROPERTY RETURN PARADE
New Delhi: Finance Minister PChidambaram on Monday said the new priceapproved by the Cabinet for domestically pro-duced natural gas is the right decision. "It hastaken into account all pros and cons, includingthe reservations expressed by different min-istries. The Cabinet decision is the right deci-sion," said Chidambaram.
Clarifying that a decision approved twice bythe Cabinet was referred to the ElectionCommission only from abundant caution aboutnot violating the poll code of conduct,Chidambaram warned of the consequences ofnot implementing it.
"For every unit of gas that we do not pro-duce, it doesn't mean we can live without gas.Today we're importing one unit of gas at a muchhigher price that the approximately $8 we haveindicated from 1st April, 2014," he said.

Koraput (Odisha):
Accusing the BJD govern-
ment in Odisha of hijacking
the credit for the work done
through the welfare pro-
grammes of UPA govern-
ment, Congress vice-presi-
dent Rahul Gandhi on
Monday claimed the state is
ruled by "mine mafia" and not
by the people's representa-
tives. "The state government
is run by the mine mafia and
not by leaders. Valuable min-
erals worth thousands of crore
rupees are looted and state
government is aware about
it," Gandhi alleged at a public
meeting at Semiliguda in the
tribal-dominated Koraput dis-
trict.
"Though the Centre sends
thousands of crores for the
welfare of Tribals, the amount
is not reaching the beneficiar-
ies at the village level. The
state government is diverting
central funds and taking cred-
it without any justification,"
he said.
While a handful of mafia
loot mineral resources of
Odisha and become rich, the
poor and tribal people do not
get any benefit, Gandhi said.
In contrast, the Centre has
set up a large number of insti-
tutes, medical colleges and
hospitals for the betterment of
the people, he said.
Highlighting the Congress
party's concern for the poor
and tribal people, Rahul
Gandhi said his family had
long-standing bond with the
Tribals and "I love to be in the
midst of tribal people."
Recalling that Rajiv
Gandhi had also visited the
area, Gandhi said he would
continue to fight for the cause
of Tribals
The Congress vice presi-
dent claimed that it was he
who stood by the agitating
Tribals of Kalahandi and
saved Niyamgiri Hills.
Strongly opposing dis-
placement of people for vari-
ous projects without offering
adequate compensation,
Gandhi said Congress would
strive for safeguarding the
interests of the poor and
underprivileged.
Hitting out at the state
government, Rahul accused it
of being insensitive towards
the poor and said it was
unfortunate that Food
Security Act was not imple-
mented in the state.
