Is an application used to perform specific tasks such as; write and format texts, insert tables and pictures. It can be saved in different formats text, template or rich.
Selecting Text
To format or edit text you must first select it. This can be done by using the mouse, keyboard and ribbon bar.
To select text using the mouse:
1. Place the cursor in front of the text to be selected.2. Hold down the mouse and drag over the text.3. Release the mouse button when you have selected all the required text.
To remove the selection do the following:
Click away from the selected area.
Other selection methods using the mouseA word Place the cursor before, after or within the word to be selected then Double click.A line Move the cursor (which becomes an arrow) to the left margin and click the mouse
button.A sentence Place the cursor to the left of the sentence ,click the mouse button. Holding down
the mouse button drag to the right untill the sentence is highlighted. A paragraph Place the cursor anywhere in the paragraph, then triple click anywhere in the
paragraph.Whole document Move the cursor to the left of the paragraph then triple-click.
To select a whole document using keyboard - press CTRL + A.
To select from Ribbon Bar:
To select the whole document, go to Editing Group in the Home Tab then click on the Select Arrow, then “Select All”.
Deleting Text
Press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete characters to the right of the cursor. Press Backspace to delete charaters to the left of the cursor. To delete text, select the text first then pess on Delete key.

Bullets and Numbering
Bullets Numbering
To apply bullets and numbering to a list
Select the text which you want to apply bullets or numbering. From the Home tab, in the Paraghraph group, click on bullets or numbering to enter
standard bullets or numbering. Click on the arrow to choose different bullet or numbering styles.
Paragraph Formatting
Paragraph formatting changes the position and appearance of paragraphs of text. You can make changes to alignment, indent paragraphs, or adjust line spacing.

Indenting
To indent and line up lists of text or paragraphs in a document, press the Tab key on the keyboard. Do not use the Space bar as this will not line up the text correctly.
To change the Indent of the first paragraph, select the paragraph you want to adjust and go to Page Layout Tab.
On the “Paragraph” dialog box, change the Left Indent to 1”.

To make “First Line” or “Hanging” Indent, open the Paragraph dialog box.
Select the first paragraph and change the indentation special to “First Line” by 0.5”

To Change the Indentation special to “Hanging” by 0.5”
Paragraph Spacing

To Apply 30 pt spacing after the first paragraph, select the first paragraph and change the number in “After” spacing.
To Apply 42 pt spacing before the second paragraph, select the second paragraph and change the number in “Before” spacing.
Picture Formatting

To Insert picture from the computer, go to Insert Tab then click on Picture Dialog box.
To Change the Size of the picture, Right click on the picture or go to the “Size” dialog box in the Format Tab

Before Changing the Height and Width of the picture, Uncheck the options of “Lock Aspect Ratio” and “Relative to original picture size” in the Size
dialog box.
Clip Art Formatting

When the value of the height and width is
specified in Inch (”) and cm, the value must be
entered in the same unit that your computer
setting has. You will not get full marks if you
enter the specified value in Inch (”) instead of cm.
To enter Clip Art in the document, go to Insert Tab than click on the Clip Art Button.
When searching for an object, make sure the option “Everywhere” is checked.
This will allow Microsoft Office to search for the Clip Art everywhere in the collections and on the internet.
