To study something by breaking it down into simpler parts.

• Analyze

The tip of the stamen; the structure that produces pollen.

• Anther

A microscopic structure that is the basic unit of plants and

animal life.

• Cell

To group things together because they share on or more

properties.

• Classify

A decision that is based on observations or on a study of

data.

• Conclusion

A condition that is not changed in a scientific experiment.

• Constant

A scientific investigation in which one variable is changed and all

others are kept the same.

• Controlled Experiment

The process by which pollen is transferred from the anther of

one flower to the female stigma on another flower.

• Cross Pollination

Information, such as that gathered during an experiment.

Data

The stalk-like section of the stamen.

• Filament

A prediction about how something works or how two

variables are related.

• Hypothesis

To draw a conclusion on the basis of observations and data.

Infer

A sweet liquid produced by flowers. Its aroma attracts

insects and birds.

• Nectar

The central part of a cell. It contains the material that controls how an organism grows and reproduces.

• Nucleus

The base of the pistil, which is the female reproductive

structure of a flower.

• Ovary

A leaf-like outer part of a flower; usually brightly colored.

• Petal

The female reproductive structure of the flower.

• Pistil

Very small grains produced in the anther. Male reproductive

cell f a plant.

• Pollen

The male reproductive structure of a flower.

• Stamen

The sticky tip of the pistil which attracts pollen.

• Stigma

The slender middle portion of the pistil.

• Style

A long string through which a liquid is drawn to the top of a candle or

other object.

•Wick

A component of an experiment that can change.

• variable

A storage sac in a plant or animal cell.
