WHAT DO THECOVERS TELL US?

In our opinion the covers of picture books give us a general idea to what the book will be about, but at the same time they don’t explain the main plot of the story.

The cover is designed to catch people’s attention. A cover of a children’s picture book is much like advertisement, using bright colours, images and simple words to draw kids in. In a way books are fishing, they want to be read.

ILLUSTRATIONS

Pictures are made many different ways, crayon, pencil, water colour, ink or picture cut-outs. The way illustrations are made can influence the way the reader perceives the story. They become a guideline for the imagination, when we are young it is difficult to connect words to images that’s why picture books are so important. They make the bridge between words and images

COMMENTARY

Picture books serve a significant role in the world of kids. The pictures are important as they show the scene of the book while the words explain the plot. Picture books make learning to read fun at early ages as kids can understand the plot of the book even if they cant read.

SUMMARY

In our opinion, picture books are enjoyable for both adults and children. Picture books motivate children to read as the pictures tell most of the story and encourage imagination
