The IBAU Headquarters at Rödingsmarkt 35 stand on historical ground. Only some 300 meters from here was the first port of the "Hammaburg" now called the "Nicolai Fleet". This is a canal now, being about 1200 years old.

On the subject of history, it might be of interest that the "Hamburgische Mark Courant" was the mother of the "Deutsche Mark", when Germany received a common currency in 1871. This Mark was well known and well accepted worldwide.

The IBAU Headquarters are situated right in the center of the city of Hamburg, Germany´s biggest port and trading city.

The IBAU house was built in 1989 and is a successful symbiosis of the traditional style and modern day function.

It has received awards from both the Building Authority of the City of Hamburg and the Hamburg Society of Engineers and Architects.

IBAU

IBAU

The IBAU Headquarters are built of dark clinker bricks which gives them a special, local quality. Due to the strict rules of the Building Authority of the City of Hamburg, the maximum height of the building has been strictly limited.

IBAU

The IBAU Headquarters accommodate the staff on seven floors. Special efforts have been made to protect the office against traffic noise. Cars are parked in the backyard and in one of the two basements.

IBAU

When IBAU HAMBURG was established as an engineering company in 1975, we started with an immediate success, the CENTRAL CONE SILO. At this time there were only very few people who believed that this type of silo could succeed. Now, after 20 years of success, the IBAU CENTRAL CONE SILO can rightly claim to have made a major impact on the Silo Technology related to the storage and retrieval of powdered mineral bulk products.

IBAU

IBAU

One discharge section consists of a radial fluidslide with three or four fluidslides on each side.

This group of fluidslides is connected to an IBAU FLOW CONTROL GATE.Only one section at a time is active, i.e. the fluidslidesare aerated and the flow control gate is opened for discharge.

IBAU

Formation of funnels during the discharge process. The following two photos were taken during the operation of an IBAU SILO with a diameter of16 m and six discharge sections. As previously described, the sections are cyclicly activated. This can be seen on this picture.

IBAU

After one cycle, the silo level is evenly loweredby a given value. This can be seen on this picture.

3 IBAU Silos for different types of cement, each with a storage capacityof 10.000 t. These have been in operation since 1977 in the Lägerdorf works of ALSEN-BREITENBURG ZEMENT UND KALKWERKE GMBH near Hamburg.

IBAU

Cement dispatch around the clock. The Lägerdorf terminal dispatches3,0 million tons per year. It has six loading lanes with mobile loaders andcan serve 120 trucks per hour.

It is believed that the ALSEN-BREITENBURG ZEMENT UND KALKWERKE terminal is the first large size completely computer controlled cement terminal in the world to be put in operation.

WÜLFRATHER ZEMENT GMBH, Thyssen Steelworks, 1979Two different types of slag cement had to be stored and handled in one silo with exactly the same outside dimensions as that of an existing silo. IBAU presented the solution of this problem: The ring silo was born.

One of the world's biggest cement silos is a port silo that was built in 1981 by the ADELAIDE BRIGHTON CEMENT LTD in Australia. This silo with a diameter of 28 m and a storage capacity of 30.000 t has a discharge rate of 1.000 t/h.

IBAU Raw Meal Silos are, in most cases, double purpose silos. They serveas a combined storage and blending silo. The discharge technique of theIBAU CENTRAL CONE SILO simply creates a blending effect. Expensive homogenizing silos with a high power consumption are not required, if there is a sufficiently working preblending system for crushed lime stone.

IBAU

Dyckerhoff Zement GmbH has made use of a very familiar concept for raw meal blending at Lengerich in what is at present probably the most modern cement works in Europe. The raw meal homogenizing system requires only about 30-50% of the aeration pressure and specific power consumption of a conventional homogenizing silo.

IBAU CENTRAL CONE SILOS - in many different varieties - are the most efficient cement Silos for storage and dispatch. The central cone is used to accommodate the necessary machinery and equipment such as:Blowers, fillers, electric control boards, compressors and IBAU Pumps etc. Silos with raised bottom- built as drive through silos - are favoured, because no intermediate Transport is required to feed the packer or the bulk loading facilities.

IBAU

Among its other activities, IBAU HAMBURG specializes in planning and supplying the equipment for cement tankers and cement terminals of any size required. This includes the loading stations, the handling equipment on board as well as the distribution terminals. The scope ranges from low-capacity, temporary units to large-size fully computerized plants.

IBAU

The vessel is loaded by means of IBAU Pumps, which convey the cement pneumatically through pipes into the cargo holds of the vessel. Motor-actuated two way valves - controlled by the computer on board - directed the cementinto the eight hold compartments.

IBAU

The cement load is pneumatically conveyed through four IBAU Pumps from ships holds to the storage silos of the cement distribution terminal. Loading and unloading procedure are independent from wheather conditions and without any dust emission. A SIEMENS S-135 U Computer controls all operations.

A good example is the M.V. GOLIATH shown in this photo. This vessel was commissioned in 1993 and can carry 15,700 t of different types and serves various ports of destination in southern Australia. IBAU supplies pneumatic bulk material handling systems for modern power plants with coal fired boilers. Generally the bulk goods handled are fly ash and re-cycled products from flue gas cleaning systems. More than3 million tons of desulpho gypsum per year are produced in Germany. The different types of lime for flue gas treatment, the dried "finished product“ desulpho gypsum, and, of course, fly ash are conveyed and stored by means of IBAU equipment.
