PHYSICAL EDUCATIONPURPOSE OF PE :to help all students develop a foundation for an active life.
PE PROGRAMME :provides a range of movement experiences to develop students’ overall development.

LOWER PRIMARY (P1 –P3):focuses on mastery of fundamental motor skills such as :Locomotor – run, walk, jump, hop, slide, gallop, skip, Non-locomotor – turn, twist, stretch, bend, curl, balanceManipulative skills – throw, catch, kick, trap, dribble, roll
UPPER PRIMARY (P4-P6)mastery of discrete skills; focus on more complex combinations and sequences of movements; and skills in games application
PE PROG
mastery of fundamental motor skills and concepts mastery of fundamental skills is reinforced in
Dance, Games and Sports, Outdoor Ed and Gymnastics through practice of the fundamental skills, the
foundation of specific movement patterns is laid.
We want our students to be efficient, effective and versatile in their performance.

Medical ConditionIf your child/ward :-• has undergone a surgery and is excused
from PE please inform the FT and PE tr
• has a medical history or a condition suchas fits, asthma, fainting spells etc pleaseinform the FT and PE tr. Let us know theaction to be taken if it happens.
P1 PE MATTERS
Medical ConditionIf your child/ward :-• is not feeling well – eg cough or flu but is in
school and you do not want him/her to do PE, write in the handbook or email or contact the school to inform the PE tr
• has been exempted from PE either long term or short term by the doctor kindly submit the excuse chit to the PE tr.
P1 PE MATTERS
Medical TreatmentDuring school hours, if your child/ward :-
• has a stomach ache or headache, we cannotgive the child any medication
• injures himself and the injury is minor egabrasion or cut we can only wash and applyantiseptic cream and put a plaster

Medical TreatmentDuring school hours, if your child/ward :-
• injures himself and the injury is major eg deepcut on the head or a ankle sprain or a fracturewe will assess the injury, apply first aid andinform the parents to take him to the doctor.

We need your help to:1. Label the water bottles with child’s name
2. Label the wallets /coin purses with child’s name
3. Teach your child how to wear their socks/shoes
4. Teach your child to tuck in his/her tee shirt
5. Teach your child to identify his/her shoes

How can parents / guardians help their children in PE?
• Communicate with child daily on happy moments & sad moments in sch
• Help the child in locomotive actions – hop, skip, jump, slide, gallop, walk, run
• Help the child in manipulativehrow,catch, roll
CCA PROG- only for P3 to P6 students- 3 tiered approach : expose, engage & excel
- 17 CCAs in 4 categories: Sports, UG, Arts, Club
- held during curriculum hours :730am-930am
- caters to recreational & competitive play- trainings in the afternoons for school teams

CAN MY P1 CHILD JOIN A CCA?No. Not advisable.

In Kheng Cheng School we nurture our students in the 4 domains of Health :

SNACK TIME HEALTH MANAGEMENT
• @ 11.50am-12n daily eaten in class while doing work
• Eat dry food that is light
• Eg of food to pack :
fruits eg grapes, small apple, strawberries, blueberries
biscuits – plain no cream biscuits
a sandwich or a bun or a slice of plain cake, plain cereal
DO NOT PACK FRIED RICE OR NOODLES OR TITBITS eg
potato chips, Mamee, Twisties, etc

CANTEEN FOOD
• Set meals sold. No ala carte
• Set meals include rice/noodles/pasta, meat/fish
vegetable & fruits
• Introduce fruits and vegetables in every meal• Encourage your child to drink water during recess.
• Bring home cooked food

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT :• Set aside time for physical play not digital play
• Watch what your child eats and cut down on fatty food
processed food and sugared drinks / food
• Kick out bad habits
• - after exercising drinking isotonic or sugared drinks
• - after exercising eating a large plate of food
• - immediately after eating sitting down to watch tele

PALPurpose of PAL:• smooth transition from Kinder to Primary School
• All about constructive play
• Experiential learning
• Inculcating values - teamwork, patience, cooperation, fairness, courage etc
• Teaches working together, building confidence and curiosity
