Press advert design | Suunto watches
The Brief
Suunto watches wanted to grow their share of the extreme sports watch market. The target market typically undertook extreme expeditions where reliable equipment was essential, and in some cases, the difference between life or death. The objective was to build brand awareness.
The solution
• A brand press advert that refers to all the semiotics and visual cues associated with extreme expeditions - co-ordinates, charts, maps, rock climbing, mountaineering and sailing
• The superimposed images create a sense of action, extremity and also a lack of crisp clarity often associated when winds are blowing or an adventurer is under extreme physical strain
• In contrast the watch stands out and the line of longitude strengthens the sense of clarity and reflects the colour scheme of the watch

Brand, naming, identity design and photography | Jerry Lask (Property developer)
The Brief
The brief was to create a brand for Jerry Lask to be able to sell properties he had developed at the heart of metropolises around the world.
The solution
• To develop a brand which added more value than just finding a customer an attic/loft apartment. The value added was in highlighting local urban life and attractions that lay on the doorstep of the properties
• The creation of a name that reflected the aspiration of the target market - 25-45 year olds purchasing their first inner city attic/loft apartment. The name was an abbreviation of the sentence ‘my attic ambitions’ MYATTICA
• The development of a mark which reflected the brands frequently used by the target market, such as BMW, Bang & Olufsen and Missoni Home. A clean and modern sans serif (Century Gothic) was used supported by modern but bold colours
• Snapshots of urban living were used to reflect the pulse and excitement of living at the heart of a metropolis

Magazine design, naming, photography and editorial
The Brief
The brief was to create an arts and design magazine. The target market were 20-40 year olds who were interested in new and innovative arts and design
The solution
• To develop a name reflecting the potency of cutting edge art and design. An elixir is a strong substance which mirrors the concept well
• Used a bold typeface, Braggadocio which has a thick enough counter to create a texture. A hatched line texture was used to create a modern and urban feel
• The colour scheme was kept simple using black, grey and hot pink to create a striking contrast
• The photography was taken at a Create Berlin exhibition in Brick Lane

Book collection cover design and illustration | Penguin Books
The Brief
The brief was to create a set of covers for a collection of classics for Penguin Books
The solution
• Each of these stories has a stark edge to it, so this was reflected in the minimal black and white approach
• The stories are also set in particular locations, so pen, ink and watercolour were used to create these illustrations
