Sharing Dashboards
• Three core techniques:• Sharing
• App workspaces (collaboration)
• Apps (sharing)
Dashboards▪ Intended for monitoring
▪ Available in the Power BI service only
▪ “Single pane of glass”
▪ Tiles can come from many datasets
▪ Can use Q&A natural language querying
▪ No filtering
▪ Modifications commit instantly
▪ Tiles automatically update when dataset is refreshed, pushed or streamed
▪ Can embed (dashboards, tiles and Q&A)
▪ Can distribute with apps
▪ Can share to internal and external users
▪ Can navigate to source (report, question, etc.) or a specific dashboard or report, or custom URL
Reports▪ Intended for interaction/exploration
▪ Available in the service, and Power BI Report Server
▪ One or more pages
▪ Visuals come from one dataset
▪ No Q&A
▪ Interactive filtering, highlighting, and sorting
▪ Modifications must be saved
▪ Requires manual refresh, or will update when interacting
▪ Can embed
▪ Can distribute with apps
▪ Can publish to web
