Junior Varsity Goes 2-2 in Busy Week at the Ballpark

C-Team Takes 3 Games, Loses to Douglas County Sophomores
Humor on the Diamond
Palmer Ridge Bears 2 , Air Academy 9, April 25 @ Air Academy High School
The JV squad had another match up with league rival Air Academy to start the week and
lost the game 9-2 despite the fact that Air Academy committed four errors compared the
Bears’ two errors. Even thought the Bears came out strong defensively, they just could
not get the runs on the board when they were needed. Air Academy had ten hits while
the Bears had seven hits and stranded nine men on base compared to Air Academy’s five.
John Kochanski and Jon Swecker each had two singles while Ryan Brown recorded a
double. Dylan Gerdts and Kurt Larson each pitched three innings.
See Junior Varsity, Page 6
Palmer Ridge HS Bears 15, The Classical Academy 6, Tuesday April 17th @ El PomarThe C-Team Bears had a strong outing against The Classical Academy JV squad, taking a win from the home team 15 to 6 at El
Pomar field. Tanner Lundwall was the starting pitcher and got the win, pitching 4 2/3 innings and giving up only 1 earned run,
while recording 8 strike-outs and giving up 2 walks. Sean Snediker and Matt Hansen provided relief to close out the game.
All starters contributed offensively with Drew Stolzfus hitting a triple for 3 RBI’s and Conner Deeds, Alex Palmer and Tanner
Christopherson each providing 2 RBI’s. Cole Hurford had 2 singles, Lundwall a single and 2 RBI’s and Jacob Tellez, Jordan Swango
and Jack Stamper each checking in with an RBI. Chad Werner also had a hit for the visitors.
Palmer Ridge HS Bears 16, Falcon High School 10, Thursday, April 26th @ Palmer RidgeThe Bears C-Team took on league rival Falcon High School at home last Thursday. Conner Deeds was the starting pitcher and
pitched 3 innings with no runs, 5 strike-outs and no walks. A lightening delay woke up the Falcons because it was them providing
much of the offense for the remainder of the game as the Bears fought to maintain the lead. Jordan Swango provided relief and
struggled through a couple of good offensive innings by the Falcons before shutting them down and recording the save.
See C-Team, Page 7
The manager called time out and walked
to the mound to remove his starting
pitcher.
“But coach, I’m not even tired,“ the
pitcher replied.
“Maybe," replied the manager, taking the
ball, "But your outfielders sure are."
Palmer Ridge HS Bears 16, Sierra High School 6, Tuesday, April 24th @ Palmer Ridge HSChuck Morris, Chase Fristoe and Nic Hansen combined to pitch the victory over visiting Sierra High School.
Hansen highlighted the outing by pitching 2 shut out innings.
John Swecker led the way offensively, recording 3 RBI’s on 2 hits, while Derek Larson, Thomas Jensen and
Austin Stamper each contributed 2 RBI’s. Josh Dyer, Chase Fristoe and Carter Throne all recorded hits for
Bears in a run-shortened game.
Palmer Ridge HS Bears 3, Falcon High School 4, Saturday, April 28th @ Falcon HSThe Bears took on a tough Falcon squad who entered the contest with a 12 and 3 record. The visiting Bears
appeared to take control with a 3 to 0 lead heading into the 6th inning. See Varsity, Page 5

However, the Bears would relinquish 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make it a tie game. Nic Hasnen, the starting pitcher,
contributed a masterful outing, holding the home team to 0 runs through 5 innings. Even though he gave up 3 runs in the 6th, only
2 of the runs were earned.
Offensively, Derek Larson, Bryce Rone, and Hanson would provide RBI hits to take the 3 to 0 lead. The home team would rally in
the bottom of the 7th to take the win in a hard fought and evenly matched game. Josh Dyer, Cody Hamilton and Kirk Thorne also
contributed hits.
The Bears will take on Cheyenne Mountain High School, the number 1 ranked team in 4A in the state in the league crossover
tournament. The Bears enter the tournament as the number 4 seed in the league after the loss to Falcon.

The final Booster Club meeting for the year will be on May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Please mark your
calendars and plan to attend – this will be a very important meeting because we will be
holding elections for Booster Club officers. All of the officer positions will be open –
President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Your input and votes will be very
important in filling these positions.
Take some time to read the Booster Club guidelines to understand the requirements for
elections. In order to run for a position you will have needed to attend Booster Club
meetings this past year.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Parents, We Need Your Photos!
A few of you have been very diligent about taking photos and uploading them to the PRHS Baseball
Shutterfly.com account. Thank you for your efforts! However, not all teams are getting photos from all
of the games on the site. If you are taking photos we would appreciate your uploads. If you haven’t
taken pictures yet but are willing, please do! We can’t get too many photos!

2012 Bears Baseball Fundraising
As with all sports programs at Palmer Ridge High School (PRHS), the 2012 Bears Baseball Team is working hard to raise the money
needed to properly support the development and growth of our young athletes. The baseball program at PRHS has clearly
established itself as a winning program with outstanding student athletes and thus continues its tradition of operating a Booster
Club to spearhead these endeavors.
The Bears Baseball Booster Club, made up strictly of volunteer parents, has and will work hard again this year to raise the money
for the items that are needed. In the event that fundraising exceeds expectations, the Booster Club will then focus on items the
team deems appropriate for the “wish list”.
Fundraisers currently being undertaken or under consideration for the future include the following:
-Electronic Newsletter Subscriptions to “Dirt From The Dugout” – A Palmer Ridge Bears Baseball Publication
-PINZ Bowling Night & Bake Sale
-Concessions At A Local Volleyball Tournament
As always, your continued support as a parent, extended family member, friend or alumni is greatly appreciated!
GO BEARS!
Thank You
Bears
Baseball
Sponsors!
