Each year the State Library requires the library to count the patrons who use the library. We are asking for your help during the week of April 9 - 14 at various times during the day to complete the count. Stop by the Reference Desk for more information and to sign up to volunteer.

Saturday, March 3 11:00 AM Grades 1-3 Celebrate the Lorax’s adventures, make truffula trees and learn about the environment. Pre-registration is necessary and begins February 18.
Monday, March 5 6:30 PM Grades K-4
Cuddle up with a book and read aloud to a furry canine friend. The dogs are fully trained and certified by Power Paws for Kids. Tails are sure to wag! Pre-registration is necessary and begins February 20.
Wednesday, March 7 7:00 PM Grades 3-6 Local artist, Claudia McFarlane will instruct children in making a personalized mandala painting. Class size is limited. Pre-registration is necessary and begins February 22.
Thursday, March 8 4:00 PM Grades 3-6 We provide the Lego bricks, you provide your imagination! Your project might even go on display in the Youth Services Department! Pre-registration is necessary and begins February 23.
YOUTH PROGRAMS
Saturday, March 17 2:00 PM Ages 5-7 Catch a ride on the Musical Story Go-Round with songs, stories, rhythm instruments and FUN! This program is part of the Library’s continuing effort to promote early literacy. Pre-registration is necessary and begins February 25.
Monday, March 19 7:00 PM Grades 3-6 Build your own boat and see it float. Set sail and race to victory! Pre-registration is necessary and begins March 5.
Saturday, March 24 2:00 PM Grades K-2 We provide the LEGO bricks, you provide your imagination! Your project might even go on display in the Youth Services Department. Pre-registration is necessary and begins March 10.

South Holland Public Library will be discontinuing
lending VHS videos and Books on Cassette on April
30, 2012. This will allow us to grow our CD, DVD
and Blu-Ray collections.
The videos and cassettes will be offered in our
Donations Corner and any funds raised will go
towards building our other collections.
If you wish to have videos or
cassettes after April 30, you may
request these through interlibrary
loan.

magazine stands. Past issues may be checked out.

The South Holland Historical Society invites you to their March Meeting. Special guest speaker, author Carrie Steinweg, will review her book, Images of America-South Holland. Ms. Steinweg is a freelance writer and preservationist. She actively works to conserve and publicize the history of the south suburbs. Refreshments will be served following the program. Registration not required.

From the A-V Librarian: What I’m listening to… Christina Perri’s lovestrong.
I had to listen after hearing “Jar of Hearts” (made famous on So You Think You Can Dance) on the radio, but now truly enjoy the whole CD. If I have to name favorites: “Jar of Hearts,” “Arms,” and “The Lonely.” For
the Twilight Saga movie fans, Christina also has an entry in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1: “A Thousand Years.” SHPL owns the soundtrack (which also includes Bruno Mars' newest "It Will Rain"). Call Reference or check the SWAN catalog for availability.
