ORCHIDS CONNECT
P R I N C I P A L ‘S D E S K
It has been an eventful month with students participating in many events and doing their best to emerge triumphant. Participation gives experience, leads to achievement sooner or later and is one of the best methods of education. Only thorough preparation, hope and confidence can make achievement possible. It is truly said, ‘The starting point of all
achievement is desire’. Nothing can be
achieved without a strong desire to achieve.
Constant striving to surpass oneself and to be
worthy of self-approval is a splendid
achievement by itself. Happiness lies in the
sense of satisfaction that the joy of
achievement offers. The effort of each
individual contributes to the achievements of
an organization or a team. ‘Together
everyone achieves more’.

MakaraSankrathi is one of the major festivals of
south India. It was celebrated in OISH in the
morning assembly on 11-01-17.
The significance of the three days- Bhogi, Sankrathi
and Kanuma was clearly depicted by the students
in three scenes. They made us understand the
traditional way of celebrating the three days with the
Bhogi fire, fruits, Haridas and other characters.
‘Kanuma’ showed the importance of farmers,
agriculture and animals. The students flew kites
delightfully after a dance by girls to the ‘Gobbemma’
song. The assembly was made very interesting
before the Sankranthi festival because of the efforts
of Mrs.T. Rama Devi, Mrs. Vani of the Telugu

Learning and Collaborative learning. Later active
participation of students in learning through
techniques like Snowball, Jigsaw and Think-Pair-
Share was insisted. Overall, the workshop was very
effective, fruitful and plausible and gave the
teachers a new perspective to the teaching-
learning process. It enabled them to conquer each
day as it comes and make a difference to one child
at a time. Below are the glimpses of the cascading
workshops.
BEHAVIOR & CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
We all imagine ourselves becoming a
‘Master teacher’. We imagine our hard work and
intensive study paying off in a highly rewarding
series of years leading up to our retirement.
However, we fail to work well and reach the highest
levels of professional practice, if the students won't
attend to the lessons and be civil in their interactions
with others. We can't teach the material if our
behavior & classroom management skills are
underdeveloped. So, to make our teachers aware of
behaviour & classroom management,
a training session was conducted on 19th January,
2017 at Orchids – The International School,
Hyderabad.
