MOODIE QUARRY
The Moodie Quarry is based on 201 acre
site which opened in 1981. The site is a
limestone quarry that mines the Gull
River and Bobcaygeon formations. Stone
from the quarry is used at the onsite
asphalt plant and supplies construction
materials to the communities of
Barrhaven and Kanata.
LAFARGE BEARBROOK QUARRY
Lafarge Bearbrook is on the eastern end of
Ottawa and produces more than 700 thousand
tonnes of product a year. The site is currently
combining two quarries into one large quarry.
It has both a wash plant and crush plant. It also
brings in both recycled concrete and asphalt.
One of the unique things about the site you will
get to see is the fault zone that goes through
the middle of the quarry.

THOMAS CAVANAGH
ALMONTE QUARRY / WASH PLANT
Almonte Quarry is a 141 hectare site and is one
of Cavanagh’s main sources since opening in
1971. With increasing pressure on natural sand
& growing haul distances, Cavanagh purchased a
wash plant capable of producing wash stone and
manufactured sand. The plant is powered off the
grid. It consists of an 8x20 three deck incline wet
screen which washes over a 2500 gallon
re-circulating tank where the fines are pumped
up to the cyclone that discharges onto a 5x10
dewatering screen.
