• McNair scholars who are entering into a UF-PhD program Fall 2017 may apply in the Spring of 2017.

• Current UF doctoral students are not eligible

• Students receive from the Graduate School:

• One year assistantship (award will change for 2017)

• $12,000 base stipend

• In-state tuition, fees and health insurance

• McNair Scholars receive a Graduate School application fee waiver

• Students are required to engage in research while on this award

• Students are required to submit a fellowship application

• Applications are due to OGMP in the Spring

• Eligibility: Current UF doctoral student who has reached candidacy. Applications are due May 1st, 2017

• Program Requirements: Required to teach at least one course at Santa Fe college for Fall and Spring

• Applicant must apply to and be hired by Santa Fe College

• Students receive:

• 9-month Graduate Assistantship

• $13,000 stipend

• Additional stipend from Santa Fe

• Current rate Santa Fe -$715 per credit hour

• In-state tuition, fees and health insurance

Application Process: Information needed from the department

1. Confirmation of acceptance: Receipt of fellowship is contingent upon acceptance into a Doctoral Program. • ~First week of March UF (OGMP) must provide this information to FEF

2. Completed McKnight Agreement form: Information about departmental support. Over the course of the five-year period, the FEF, UF and the academic unit will assume various responsibilities regarding the student’s funding.

3. Speaking points to be used during application process: OGMP attends a meeting in Tampa, FL to advocate for students.• First week of April

Student:_____________________________________________This award constitutes a five-year commitment by the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Program, the University of

Florida (UF), the student and the student’s department/academic unit. Over the course of the five-year period, the

Florida Education Fund (FEF), UF and the academic unit will assume various responsibilities regarding the student’s

funding. It is understood that the availability of this award is contingent upon funding from the Florida State

Legislature and upon student’s satisfactory progress in course work.

The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship recipients receive the following over a five-year period: Annual $12K stipend Tuition and fees for 12 credits in the fall and spring, 8 credits in the summer Health care

• McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Application Deadline is January 15, 2016.• Supporting materials are accepted after the deadline

Emails will be sent to Graduate Cordinators requesting:

• Confirmation of the applicants acceptance into a graduate program at UF

• A completed McKnight Agreement Form- indicating that the department is willing to support the applicant

OGMP assists departments in the recruitment of underrepresented minority PhD students:

• Graduate Student Diversity Recruitment Award• Applied for by the department- Due May 1st,2016

• National Name Exchange• Database of URM students interested in Graduate School

• Graduate Candidate Identification System• Undergraduate students enrolled in a Florida public university

Other OGMP Recruitment and Retention Programs

This funding is available to assist departments in recruiting highly sought after URM students

• Used to help department provide a more competitive stipend • Applied for by the department during the recruitment process• Up to $5,000/year for up to four years• Must be accompanied with departmental support

• Cannot be awarded in conjunction with a Graduate School fellowship.

The Board of Education (BOE) Summer Fellowship Program welcomes incoming URM-PhD students to graduate education at UF by providing the following:
