WWELCOME TO MY ELCOME TO MY POWER POINTPOWER POINT

In this slide show you will be seeing some of the things I have learned during the “Go with the flow” unit. You will be learning about some of my favorite words and how they relate to water.

So let’s go to my power point!

AAQUATICQUATIC• Aquatic an

adjective that describes anything to do with water. Some people like to play aquatic sports.

BBODIESODIES OF OF WWATERATER• There are many

different bodies of water in the world. A body of water can be a lake, river, ocean, sea, creek, stream, gulf, bay, inlet, cove, delta, pond, puddle, lagoon, oasis, tide pool, etc…

CCHEMICALLYHEMICALLY• The elements

Hydrogen and Oxygen combine chemically to make water.

DDROPROP OFOF WWATERATER

Drops of water

• A drop of water can go a long way in Africa where there isn’t a lot of water, so they make bore holes to get water out of the ground.

EEARTHARTH• The Earth is made

up of 97% water, and almost all of that is salty. Isn’t that amazing!!

FFLOWLOW• Rivers can flow

faster than a speeding train. Where rivers flow over rocks it is called a rapid.

GGROUNDROUND WWATERATER• Most of our fresh

water comes from the ground thus it is called ground water.

HHYDROGENYDROGEN//HH22OO• H2O stands for 2

Hydrogen atoms & 1 Oxygen atom. Those elements make up water.

IIRRIGATIONRRIGATION• The Hopi tribe used

irrigation to water their crops because, they lived in a dry region. You irrigate your crops when you put water from a spring into a tunnel that runs into your crops.

JJERRYERRY THETHE WWATER ATER MMOLECULEOLECULE

• Jerry is a water molecule. A molecule is the smallest part of the substance water.

KKAYAKAYAK• Some people like

to kayak in lakes. A lake is a body of fresh water that is totally landlocked.

LLONGITUDEONGITUDE//LLATITUDEATITUDE• The longitude &

latitude coordinates for Mackenzie Bay are 69on, 137ow. Longitude & Latitude line are the lines on the globe that run up to down and right to left. One reason that they are numbered is so sailors can find out where they are.

MMOVINGOVING• Water is always

moving. The pattern of its movement is called a current.

NNEED TOEED TO SSURVIVEURVIVE• You need water to

survive. Your blood is made up of about 83% water.

OOXYGENXYGEN• Water is the

second most essential need to survive after oxygen. Oxygen makes up water though so I guess they're tied.

PPRECIPITATIONRECIPITATION• One form of water

is precipitation. Some types of precipitation are:

1.Snow2.Sleet3.Hail4.Rain

QQUENCHUENCH• Many athletes

quench their thirst with water, so a drop of water (instead of a bottle of water) to an athlete would look like disappointment.

RRIVERIVER• A river can make a

lot of noise. A river is a fast moving body of fresh water.

SSNOWNOW• A lot of people like to

play in snow. Snow is a from of precipitation that freezes once it gets to our atmosphere. It is usually light and fluffy.

LLAKEAKE TTITICACAITICACA• Lake Titicaca is

the largest and highest navigable lake in the world. It lies on top of the Andes Mountains.

UUSE ITSE IT CCAREFULLYAREFULLY• You have to use it

(water) carefully because, one day we may not have water.

VVAPORAPOR• Vapor is the gas

form of water. It can only be seen as steam or smoke.

WWATERATER CCYCLEYCLE• Water can stay on

Earth for a long time because of, the Water Cycle. The Water Cycle is the endless cycle of water.

EEXXTREMLYTREMLY• It is extremely important

that you DO NOT pollute our water, or water will be on the base side of the PH scale, when really it should be neutral. We can’t eat or drink bases without getting sick. The PH scale is a scale that has a acidic and basic sides. Everything that we eat or drink is acidic or neutral.

YYUCKYUCKY• Some of the steps

in the Water Treatment Process are yucky such as the:

1.Filtering Screens2.Grit chamber3.Sedementation

Tank

ZZoinks!oinks!• Zoinks, water has

been here since the dawn of time!! There is also no new water on the Earth.
