MDTC Election time is here! The 4 Officer positions are up for election every
year: President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer. The Board member
positions are a three-year term and we have (2) openings. If you are interest-
ed in running for any of these positions we will be taking nominations from
the floor at the April 25th General Membership meeting. The official election
will be held on May 30th at the General Membership meeting, so please plan
on attending this meeting.
The Milwaukee Sports Show will be held March 7th – 11th at the WI State
Fair Expo building. MDTC will have a booth again this year, along with obedi-
ence and agility demos on the Main stage. Please stop in to say Hi and cheer
us on! The shows are always a huge success in promoting our club!
There will be some upcoming Demo’s and exhibitions in the next couple of
months. If you are available to come and show off your skills with your dog,
please consider signing up for a few of them. The sign-up sheets and infor-
mation about each upcoming event are listed on the clipboards hanging at
the Outdoor Clubhouse.
The Milwaukee Brewers games have been picked and the training has start-
ed. If you would like to volunteer some of your time to help with this very suc-
cessful fundraiser for the club, please contact Mari Pavleje.
The MDTC AKC Obedience show will be held June 9th – 10th at the Western
Waukesha County Dog Training Club in Ixonia. Come support our Obedience
trial, there is plenty of room for helpers throughout the weekend. We will have
a raffle and good food. Please contact Daryl Stuppan or Ellen Mack if you
are available to help that weekend.
The Milwaukee Dog 2019 Calendar is in the making. Please start going thru
your photos, we are looking for a variety of pictures. Examples: 1) agility, fly-
ball, tracking, nose work and obedience action shots, 2) hiking in the park or
lounging in your backyard, 3) Holiday dress-up or costumes, 4) any of the
four seasons or just your personal favorites. I would like to fill up the calendar
with all the dogs in the club!! Submit multiple photos of your dogs for both big
photo spots and small photo spots throughout the calendar. Email your pho-
tos to mdtccalendar@milwaukeedog.com, include your name as well as your
pets name with the corresponding picture. The calendar will be available for
purchase by fall, so everyone has time to submit their pictures!
Have a Happy Easter!

2018 SPORTS SHOW IS
HERE!
The 2018 Journal Sentinel Sports Show is scheduled for Wednesday
through Sunday, March 7-11 in the Expo building at State Fair Park. We'll
be part of the Main Stage entertainment line-up again this year. That
means we'll need plenty of people and dogs to demonstrate just what a
trained dog can do, both in obedience and agility. The sign-up book will be
at the St. Paul location only this year, so be sure to check it out and sign up
for a shift or two in our booth. We'll also have a list of rules and guidelines
for exhibiting available in the sign-up book. After you check out the rules
and guidelines, if you have any questions about whether your dog would be a good candidate for the Sports Show, please talk to your instructor.
2018 ELECTIONS
.It's MDTC Election time again!! The Officer Positions (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) are one year positions and are up for election every year. The Board Member positions are three year posi-tions. If you are interested in running for any of these positions, MDTC will be taking nominations off the floor at the April meeting (4/25). The nominated person must be there to accept the nomination, or send a written note stating that s/he accepts the nomination. To be nominated, the person must belong to MDTC for a minimum of 1 year, and must be up-to-date on club dues. The election will be held at the General Meeting on May 30th. At this time, all candidates for office will have a few minutes to state why
they are interested in running for the position, and why they should be elected. If you are interested please contact Martha Ryan, Dawn Butler or Jennie Neumann
EXHIBITION AT
HALES CORNERS LIBRARY
Our first demonstration of 2018 was on February 20th at Hales Corners
Library for their Memory Café. We've done demos at the library before, usu-
ally for their summer reading program, but this one was for seniors. The
crowd was small, but appreciative, and we received a $75 donation for .
our efforts. Thanks to my daytime "regulars", Evan Emmons and Maggie,
Sam Emmons and Ember, Theresa Harwell and Rocket, and Claude Szpot
and Brodie for participating. If you're available during the day and would like
to join me and these folks for daytime demos, please let me know.

MILWAUKEE DOG TRAINING CLUB General Membership Meeting
WEDNESDAY, February 28, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 8:04 PM by President Kathy Gibowski.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: No corrections to January’s minutes and no correspondence.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Thanks to all who made the Pet Expo a success. Thanks to Daryl Stuppan and
the Property Search Committee for all their work looking for a new home for the club, unfortunately the
property at 3011 W. Mill road is no longer available. The owner of the property decided to lease the build-
ing instead of sell it to us.
COMMITTEES
DIRECTOR OF TRAINING: Kim Rinzel reports that the energy level of the dogs at training has been high
which makes for a more challenging class to teach. She suggests that handlers exercise their dogs before
coming to class so class time will be more productive.
AGILITY: There will be a fun match April 14. A member asks if spectators are welcome. Kathy says they
are but it is a crowded venue with lots of activity so please don’t bring a dog along. She suggests observ-
ing a practice on Saturdays might be a better option.
FLYBALL: Dawn Butler reports that there will be a match this weekend at Think Pawsitive in New Berlin.
AKC: Lory Valley reports that the applications have been submitted and that both the obedience trials and
rally trials have been approved. We are accepting sponsorships, raffle items and volunteers. The trials will
be held on June 9-10. Agility and obedience classes will be cancelled for that weekend.
MEMBERSHIP AND SALES: Dale Eastman reports 18 new members started last Sunday.
BUILDING & GROUNDS: Sam and Evan Emmons report that cleaning continues and the old refrigerator
was brought to the Milwaukee Dept. of Sanitation Self Help Center by Claude Spotz.
SOCIAL: Social Sunday will be March 18.
GOOD & WELFARE: Several cards were sent.
EXHIBITIONS: Mari Pavleje reports there was an exhibition at the Hales Corners Library for their Memory
Care Café on February 20 for which we received $75. On March 26 at 3:30 there will be an exhibition at
the North Shore Library. If anyone is interested there is a sign up sheet in the club house. Mari is actively
seeking handlers and their dogs to volunteer for the Sports Show, Wednesday Mar. 7 thru Sunday Mar. 11.
There are day and evening shifts available and she would like to have a full booth which means six dogs
for each shift. Volunteers need to be in Beg. Novice or above. Volunteers without dogs are also welcome.
FUNDRAISING: Mari reports we have 12 people signed up for the Miller Park fundraising. We’ve been do-
ing this fundraiser since 1999. It has been an important source of revenue for the club and made the pur-
chase of our indoor facility possible.
Kathy reports that animal communicator Linda Roberts has been booked for Sunday, April 29. Linda will
communicate with your pet and tell you what your cat or dog is thinking. $35 for 15 minutes and one animal
or $55 for 30 minutes and up to three animals.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Dawn Butler reports that anyone who wishes to run for the board can be
nominated from the floor, by another member, at the April General Membership Meeting. Nominees need
to have been a member for one year and in good standing (up to date on their dues).
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Kathy reports that we are getting help with our 501(c)(3) application from the
Milwaukee Nonprofit Center.
NEW BUSINESS: No new business.
Names from the new class are read. Motion by Kathleen McNerney to accept them as members; seconded
by Evan. Approved.
SHOW WINS:
Motion to adjourn by Kathleen, seconded by Linda Roman. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM
Respectfully submitted, Chris Niver Secretary
Brewer Game Fundraising
It's time to start planning for our annual fund-raising efforts at Brewer games. 2018 will be our 20th year working for Sportservice at Miller Park and, before that, County Stadium. Since the 1999 season, we've earned almost $111,000 working 10-15 games per season (including playoffs) as well as the occa-sional concert.
The games we're scheduled for are listed below, and there's also a Kenny Chesney concert this year on April 28th that we hope to work at, too. Report time is usually 2.5 to 3 hours before the game starts, games usually last 3 hours or so, and then we have 45 minutes to an hour of clean-up before we're finished.
As usual, all new and returning workers will have to attend a training session before working. Train-ing sessions will take place at Miller Park and some off-site locations and usually last from 2 to 2.5 hours. There are sign-up sheets at both the Humboldt and St. Paul locations for those interested in working. You can also contact Mari Pavleje directly, either in person or by phone (414545-2733).
Working at these games is a lot of fun and also very lucrative for the club as we save money for anew building. So, we hope you will consider joining us this season! If you have any questions about working or training, please contact Mari.

AKC OBEDIENCE AND RALLY SPONSORSHIP 2018
On June 9
th and 10
th, Milwaukee Dog Training Club will hold its annual 2 day AKC Rally and Obedience
Trial. Every year, the club awards ribbons and gifts to the winners of 1st thru 4th place, and ribbons to Qualifiers in all events. Despite efforts to keep costs reasonable, these awards are costly for the club. In the past, MDTC members have sponsored these ribbons and gifts and we are hoping that you will continue this tradition by making a cash donation. In return for your generosity, the club will continue rewarding par-ticipants for achievements in rally and obedience and your name will be listed in the MDTC Newsletter and the Show Catalog. You can donate as an individual or, in memoriam of a special animal, or even as a group (for example, Ad-vanced Agility members, Flyball members, Friday Agility students, Novice Obedience students, etc). Any of these can be listed in the program. See below for different donation options. Any amount is greatly ap-preciated. Daryl Ann Stuppan (“Cashmere”) will be stopping by training classes to answer questions. Please turn in your donation by May 2OTH to be in the Show Catalog. Below is a donation form that can be put in the AKC Sponsor box at either club location or given directly to Daryl. You can also mail the form to Daryl Ann Stuppan at 8568 N. Stoneridge Ct., Brown Deer, WI 53223. Questions? Email Daryl at darylstuppan@aol.com or phone 414-354-2330. ————————————————————————————————————--
