2. THERE ARE 61 SPECIMEN, CHAMPION AND/OR HISTORIC TREES LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY. SIZE WAS ESTIMATED FOR THOSE TREES THAT WERE INACCESSIBLE.
TREES LOCATED ON THE PROPERTY WERE MEASURED USING A DBH (DIAMETER AT BREAST HEIGHT) TAPE. TREE LOCATIONS WERE FIELD SURVEYED BY GPS.
CURRENTLY NO SPECIMEN TREES ARE PROPOSED FOR REMOVAL.
3. TWO FOREST STANDS (STANDS A AND B) WERE IDENTIFIED WITHIN THE PROJECT STUDY AREA. BOTH STANDS WERE IDENTIFIED AS A PRIORITY RETENTION AREA DUE
TO SPECIMEN TREES. CURRENTLY NO FOREST CLEARING IS PROPOSED.
4. STAND A IS A MID OAK-POPLAR FOREST STAND DOMINATED BY QUERCUS ALBA AND LIRIODENDRON TULIPIFERA IN THE 12-20, 20-30 AND 30+" SIZE CLASSES. THE
AVERAGE BASAL AREA OF THE STAND IS 65. AVERAGE CANOPY CLOSURE IS 77.5%, 40% UNDERSTORY COVERAGE, AND AN AVERAGE OF 72.5% HERBACEOUS COVERAGE.
THE UNDERSTORY IS DOMINATED BY ACER RUBRUM, CELASTRUS ORBICULATUS, HEDERA HELIX, ILEX OPACA, LONICERA JAPONICA, SMILAX ROTUNDIFOLIA, AND
TOXICODENDRON RADICANS. THE HERBACEOUS LAYER IS DOMINATED BY HEDERA HELIX, LONICERA JAPONICA, MICROSTEGIUM VIMINEUM, PHYTOLACCA DECANDRA,
TOXICODENDRON RADICANS, AND VIOLA SORORIA. APPROXIMATELY 25% OF THE STAND IS COVERED BY INVASIVE PLANTS THAT INCLUDE LONICERA JAPONICA,
CELASTRUS ORBICULATUS, HEDERA HELIX, AND MICROSTEGIUM VIMINEUM.
STAND B IS A EARLY-MID OAK-HICKORY FOREST STAND DOMINATED BY QUERCUS ALBA, LIRIODENDRON TULIPIFERA, JUGLANS NIGRA, AND CARYA SPECIES IN THE 12-20,
20-30 AND 30+" SIZE CLASSES. THE AVERAGE BASAL AREA OF THE STAND IS 70. AVERAGE CANOPY CLOSURE IS 87.5%, 15% UNDERSTORY COVERAGE, AND AN AVERAGE
OF 67.5% HERBACEOUS COVERAGE. THE UNDERSTORY IS DOMINATED BY NYSSA SYLVATICA, QUERCUS PRINUS, AND CARYA SPECIES. THE HERBACEOUS LAYER IS
DOMINATED BY LONICERA JAPONICA, TOXICODENDRON RADICANS, VIOLA SORORIA, ALLIARIA PETIOLATA, AND RUBUS SPECIES. APPROXIMATELY 22.5% OF THE STAND IS
COVERED BY INVASIVE PLANTS THAT INCLUDE LONICERA JAPONICA AND ALLIARIA PETIOLATA.
