School Council Chair & Trustee General Meeting

Almighty and ever-living God, you have given us your life-giving word and have gifted us in various ways. Help us to lead prayerful lives as your sons and daughters and continue to guide our actions that we may use our gifts for the common good. May we be formed by your word and enter into the inheritance which you have promised.

Guide and bless our discussions and activities as we gather. Let your Spirit stir within and among us as we seek to serve our communities. May we lead a life spent in union with you and always be for others an example worthy of imitation of a life lived in Christ in whose name we pray. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Parent Engagement

SCs are really good at involving parents in the many aspects of supporting and enhancing the school climate and culture (ex: hot lunches, family dances, volunteering…)

In the evolution of SCs, it is equally important for councils to move to the next step and involve parents at a deeper level…

Parent Engagement

Parent engagement in supporting the school and student success becomes more meaningful, authentic, productive.

Parents are integral in advising the principal When the best happens, this process is

collaborative, where all decisions keep student success at the forefront

Parent Engagement

When building your SC meeting agendas, look for a balance between parent engagement and increasing parent presence in the school in a meaningful way (differentiation takes place with each school context)

When the best happens school council, parents and community work together as a true partnership

Champions

Does every student have at least one trusted adult in their school?

Principals charged with coming up with a ‘plan’ to ensure this is the case

Our intention: no child falls through the cracks…

Closing Prayer

School Council Chair & Trustee General Meeting

Loving God, you invite us to reflect on all that is true, good, just and pleasing that we may recognize your presence and action in the world and that we may be your witnesses wherever you send us. Fill students and all of us with your Holy Spirit and transform us into messengers of your Gospel. Help us to be tireless promoters of love, peace and justice and make us instruments of unity and service. May we always use the gifts and wisdom we have received to contribute to the needs of others.

We also pray for our beloved dead which the Church remembers during the month of November. May they enjoy the vision of God with those in heaven and may they intercede for us with tender prayers. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
