Indiana Minority and Women's Business Enterprises Business Development Week a Success!The State of Indiana’s Mi-nority and Women’s Busi-ness Enterprises Division(MWBE)helditsfirstannualBusiness DevelopmentWeek Conference October 21–23,2013inIndianapo-lis.The conference events began on Monday, Oc-tober 21 with a series of“Building Business Suc-cess Workshops”, includ-ing topics such as “DoingBusiness with the State ofIndiana” and “IncreasingSales byUsing aWellOr-ganized Sales Presenta-tion”. Luncheon speaker,FaithMoore-McKinney,wasanationallyrenownedcon-nections and public rela-tions expert. Ms. Moore-McKinneysharedtipsfromher book, Schmingling – TheArtofBeingWellCon-nected.On Tuesday, October 22,the conference featured anexhibitors’ hall, where over100 businesses networked with certified minority- and
women-owned businesses that showcased their prod-ucts and services in theMWBEB2BShowcase.Thedayalsoincludedpan-el discussions with high-profile state business pro-fessionals on conductingbusinesswith state educa-tional institutions and statecasinos.The event concluded on Wednesday, October 23,
with a welcome receptionfor newly-appointed Dep-uty Commissioner TerrieDaniel.Mrs. Daniel beganherdutieswiththeStateofIndiana’s MWBE Divisionon October 7. Terrie hasreturnedtotheIndianaDe-partment ofAdministrationafter working for the Cityof Indianapolis as DeputyDirector of Minority andWomenBusinessDevelop-ment. My days are seldom boring andneverpredictable.Imightstartoutinthemorningwiththeappointmentschedulehavingmedoingaspayon aRottweiler, and vaccinatingpuppies,butattheendoftheday,I'veendedupwormingnewts,practicingpsychologyonacat,andamputatinganiguana'stail.
I'masmallanimalveterinarian,butIalsoprovidemedical,surgicalcareandboarding forexoticpetssuchassmallmammals,birds, reptiles,amphibians,insectsandfish.
