collaboration on graduatelevel education

The SoilSoc network was established spring2006 between the Nordic agricultural universitiesto strengthen the collaboration on graduateeducation of soil sciences.

The of the network is:purpose• To increase and improve Nordic interactionamong students, teachers and researchers inthe field of soil science.• To improve the diversity and quality of graduateeducation in the field of soil science in theNordic countries.• To create a motivating environment for Nordicstudents in the field of soil science.

SoilSoc :Oláfur Arnalds (LbhI), Ole Borggaard (KVL), Trond Børresen(UMB), Linda Bergaust (student, UMB), Anu Mikkonen (student,HU), Sara Hallin (SLU), Karin Enwall (student, SLU) and KristinaLindström (HU)Missing from the picture: Rannveig Guicharnaud (student, LbhI)and Julie K. Jensen (student, KVL)

Board

Members of the SoilSoc Network areteachers, researchers and students at:* KVL - The Royal Agricultural andVeterinary University, Copenhagen,Denmark* HU-AF - The Faculty of Agricultureand Forestry, University of Helsinki,Finland* LbhI - The Agricultural University ofIceland* UMB - The Norwegian University ofLife Sciences, Ås, Norway* SLU - The Swedish University ofAgricultural Sciences, Uppsala,Sweden

Researchersand teachersfrom partnerinstitutes areinvited in theSoilSoc network as linked nodes.

Establish and benchmark a website that will serve as a forum forsharing all the relevant information on graduate courses and overallstudent mobility in the field of soil sciences in the Nordic countries.• Provide an annual graduate level summer course in soil science, preferably interdisciplinary and problem based.

• Provide information on current research programs in the Nordiccountries in the field of soil sciences to facilitate student mobilitywith regards to thesis work and practical training for graduate students.• Create opportunities for sharing and exchange of teaching expertise.

Activities of the network:
