• Height: Above 10,000 ft. (3 km) to ~ 60,000 ft. (18 km). Tropopause

• Ice crystals

• Forms:

– mares tails, hooks, filaments & strands

– cirrofractus

– cirrostratus

– cirrocumulus (mackerel sky)
