This season we knock on the door of a select number of artists we’ve had the pleasure of working with in seasons past and continue to have a fond tendency towards. Additionally we open our arms and our collection to Natalia Gianinazzi and her unique Gruesli characters, whose spirit and charm put us under her spell. For the first time and in celebration of these talented individuals, Nikita has named the styles their graphics feature on after the artists themselves, forever sealing their identity.

VICTORIA JONES UK illustrator and soulful surfer Victoria Jones has always had an interest in the world around her. Taking things a step further, her design for Nikitaexplores fractal patterns of the natural world. Fascinated with thegeometric perfection of crystal and mineral formations, she makes a pretty intensive study exploring their patterns through her art. The deep subject matter draws you in and is mind-blowing when you realize that the entire universe is basically composed of these naturally occurring patterns. JARI SALOThe active and outdoorsy Jari Salo contributes what will undoubtedly become an iconic Nikita t-shirt. The idea for his first design this season comes from the Misfits single cover of ‘Die, Die my Darling’ featuring a man instead of a woman in the spirit of Nikita and keeps as closely as possible to the original design. Jari has this single on vinyl and it is one of his all time favorite artworks. The second design features a bird’s wing and has morphed from an old photo into a majestic stardust wing by adding some paint splashes and colour. www.jarisalo.com

LITTLE MADILittle Madi takes exploration to a new perspective, creating icons for this season which revolve around floral and bucolic elements. Immersing herself in an autumnal atmosphere, she is inspired by Indian totems, geometry, ethnic and primitive patterns. Not only do we continue to see new and distinctive Little Madi graphics truly come to life, they also appear on the Nikita freestyle Sideway Sista snowboard taking that life in motion.www.petitemadi.blogspot.co.uk

NATALIA GIANINAZZI a.k.a. Mamma GRUESLIYou may think that the Nikita Gruesli is cute and sweet, well, not quite, she’s a badass fairy! Inspired by the Icelandic folklore of elves and fairies, she protects all Nikita riders and girls that are pushing the limits. Anexclusive addition to the now one thousand strong characters, the Nikita Gruesli is totally unique and lovingly conceived by Natalia Gianinazzi. A designer and graphic illustrator hailing from Lugano, Switzerland, project Nikita Gruesli has been a labour of love and devotion since 2003. Each character is not a plaything to be bought and shelved, they are individuals to be adopted, each possessing something special and raw that reflects their personality. AC BANANASAC Bananas has an unrivalled hand at detailed graphic work, which stormed last winter’s collection and was featured on the newly launched Sideway Sista freestyle board. Looking at his body of work, it can feel slightly dark and deranged, warped and wonderful. He is a special talent with a knack for custom lettering, logos and print designs. This season for Nikita there are two very different and bold logo types: a spray paint effect, old graffiti style that’s quite brash and bling whilst the other is more dimensional, clean and colourful. www.acbananas.com
