Dear Parents On Monday 16th September Sarah Coombes and Libby Bruce from SAPOL visited Littlehampton Primary School to share cyber safety presentations to all year 3 – 7 classes. The presentations provided students with top tips when online. Not everyone is who they say they are online. You should only accept friend requests from people you know and trust. Think before you post! Once it’s posted online you can lose control over who sees it or where it ends up. Use a passphrase — a random collection of four or more words and at least 12 characters. Passphrase example: hairybeachblueshoe Keep personal information (whether about yourself, a family member or a friend) private online. Not everything you see online is true, helpful or safe. Make sure you know it’s coming from a trustworthy and reliable source. Here are some student reflections from the presentations: You should never give people your personal information if you don’t know them. Harriet Not everything on the internet is true. Haidee To make sure privacy settings are on and only friend your real friends. Sanuka You can call Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800 if you feel you are being bullied. Taya It’s a good idea to have 5 people you feel comfortable to talk to. Daniel How to not share your location in pictures you post and how to deal with cyber bullying Amelia Get permission from your parents before logging on to apps Tamiah The Office of the eSafety Commissioner is committed to empowering all Australians to have safer, more positive experiences online.
The Office was established in 2015 with a mandate to coordinate and lead the online safety efforts across government, industry and the not-for profit community. For more information and fact sheets about keeping children safe online please click on the link https://

I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing break. Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday 14th October ready for Term 4. Kind regards, Renee

This year 32 Year 5,6 and 7 students did choir. We met
on Monday mornings with Ms Claridge as our choir
helper. Mrs Raymond was our choir teacher. She helped
us learn all the songs. She is an amazing teacher. She was
a bit tough on us sometimes but we all learnt the songs
off by heart.
Performing at the Festival of Music on Thursday 19th of
September was the highlight. It was a very entertaining
night for the audience and the choir. We danced and of
course we sang, it has been the best night of the school
year so far.
On the morning of the concert, we had our choir
rehearsal at Festival Theatre and we learnt everything we
needed to know about the actual performance.
We wore different coloured t-shirts to make the night
even cooler when we performed.
For the conclusion, we performed the song Get On Your
Feet. They let balloons and streamers fall down. We got a
huge applause at the end with a standing ovation.
We have really enjoyed being involved in choir. We thank
Ms Claridge and Mrs Raymond for all their help this year.

Four of our students Chloe Cotton, Judd French, Dahlia Duigan and Armani Herbig were selected as finalists to attend the Langhorne Creek Young People’s Writing Competition workshops at Langhorne Creek Hub.
The day was amazing as the students participated in outdoor and indoor workshops with Jane Jolly an Award winning storywriter, Jude Aquilina a poet, Kristin Martin a new author and Julia Wakefield who is an Award winning poet and visual artist. There were students representing 22 Primary and Secondary Schools from around the State. Two students from Littlehampton won Special Awards on the day out of an incredible 122 entries which were received overall.
Dahlia Duigan (absent due to holiday) won First Prize for the Open Writing Year 2-3 Category which was a Certificate plus a $50 plus basket of books for the Library.
Judd French won Highly Commended for the Open Writing Year 6-7 Category and received a Certificate.
All students received show bags on the day. Highlights included observing the students interact with the authors and students from different schools, brainstorming and sharing their creative ideas and stories. The students all enjoyed the experience and will have lots of great writing tips to share with their classmates.
At our last two assemblies the following students were

On the 22nd of August, two of our students entered their
own poems into the Hahndorf Winter Lantern Festival’s
Poetry competition, where the entries had to follow a
theme of “Our Natural World”. While Lucy entered one
poem that got an honourable mention, Emily entered
three poems and all of them won a prize!

SAPSASA Soccer
In week 8 I missed out on a week of school to go to West Beach and play SAPSASA soccer. I was fortunate enough to be representing the Barker district with 12 other girls. I was the only girl from Littlehampton Primary School and didn't know anyone.
Overall we won 7 games and drew 1. We drew first place with Gawler, but both teams still got a medal.
My favourite things about SAPSASA would be making new friends and scoring my first penalty! I am very thankful for this experience and look forward to doing it again next year.

On Wednesday 25th September, we welcomed Jacqui Briers, Carer Support Coordinator, and Fiona Forbes, Carer Support Worker, from Carers and Disability Link
(CADL) who presented during our final Let’s Connect families group meeting for the term.
A range of information was shared about services offered
to Carers including information on various workshops at
the Woodside office, respite assistance, connection with
Carers in similar situations and support / advocacy for
Carers.
Families in attendance engaged in very productive
conversation around the role of their organisation and
the support they are able to offer support to those
undertaking a Caring role in our community.
If you’re interested in joining our Let’s Connect group,
Term 4 meetings will be held weekly in the
Littlehampton Primary School SAKG Kitchen on
Thursday’s from 9-10am during term time.
Wellbeing Survey
Each term the students participate in an end of term Well
Being survey. In this they have the chance to share any
positive moments where someone has been kind or
helpful. We also ask the children if they have had any
problems in the yard or classroom during the term that is
ongoing. Going through these survey results it is clear
that the majority of students at our school feel very safe
or safe.
Many of the issues students wrote down we have
followed up with, and the classroom teacher has a major
role in supporting them in this process too. The 3% who
felt unsafe had a yard incident that was still worrying
them but after conversations around this they began to
feel safe again.
Wellbeing and Engagement online survey
As a school we also participated in the Wellbeing and
Engagement online survey. Over 90% of Year 4-7
students participated. Over half of the students said they
have an important adult at school with 50% of students
saying they had peer belonging.
Approximately 50% of students are ready for learning
and a majority of student’s wellbeing out of school were
recorded to be involved in music, sport or organised
activities.
Our main areas as a school to monitor are:
Year 4: Emotional regulation- emotional wellbeing.
Year 5: Perseverance- learning readiness.
Year 6: School climate- engagement with school and
school belonging- engagement with school.
Year 7: Emotional wellbeing-all areas.
