Dear Parent(s) , Guardian(s),
I would like to thank all parents for attending our parent teacher interviews on Nov. 21st and Nov. 23rd. Celebrating learning together assists all students in being the best they can be. We, the staff, value the commitment you make to your child’s learning and appreciate the time you devoted to interviews.
On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank Parent Council for making us supper during the parent teacher interviews; the meals were delicious and much appreciated.
What a beautiful Season to celebrate as we prepare for the coming Jesus. We will celebrate weekly Advent celebrations prepared by teachers and students. As well, Ecole St Paul will be collecting gifts for Santa’s Anonymous.
Our GIVING TREE is displayed in the office for everyone to share. Students and families will be bringing gifs for sharing with families in Fort McMurray. Once you or your child(ren) have chosen a gift tag from the tree, please have your child return the donated gift to the school. Please leave it unwrapped and brought to the school by December 8th.
A HUGE thank you to all parent volunteers who help make our school a success. From Child Check calls, to hot lunches, to parent reps, to numerous other acts of kindness, your generosity of time continues to be much appreciated.
To you and your family, I wish you a Happy Holiday Season as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas.
Joyeux Noël à tous,
France Letendre, Principal

Healthy Holiday Eating – Top Tips
This time of year it is especially difficult to make healthy choices. Below are some top tips to help you to make the healthy choice:
- load up on fruit instead of cakes, squares or candy - choose 100% fruit juice or water instead of punch, pop or other sugary
options - do not skip meals, it will lead you to be hungrier and to eat more
later on - try to choose whole grains – start by switching your toast in the
morning - stay away from deep-fried appetizers and stick with fresh vegetables
and low-fat dips
Tip: Try to fill half your dinner
plate with vegetables
CONTEST:
What is ONE way you can keep your bones healthy
during the holiday break?

In the New Year our school will be implementing Fountas & Pinnell. The Fountas & Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention System (LLI) is a small-group, supplementary intervention program designed to help instructors provide powerful, daily, small-group lessons for the lowest achieving children in the early grades.
Ecole St. Paul School “Polar Bear” Club
Fort McMurray Catholic Schools are instructed to keep students indoors during recess on days when the combined cold and wind chill values reach -21 degrees Celsius.
With the permission of our Superintendent, administration has the ability at each school to hold VOLUNTARY/OPTIONAL outdoor recesses when the temperature falls below-21 to -27 degrees Celsius. This exception is available only to students in Grade 3 and up.
The criteria for outdoor recess on colder days are stated below:
There must be a staff member (s) willing to supervise the children while they are outside. Students will only be allowed outside with a supervisor ONCE THEY HAVE OBTAINED
WRITTEN PERMISSION from a parent or guardian. Student MUST be well dressed or they will not be allowed to be outside (even if permission has been
previously granted). Teachers/administration will use their discretion if kids are dressed well enough to be outside.

*CARING* November and December’s virtue
As we continue to practice caring this month, each class is invited to show our community we care by donating a ‘Being Family Bear’ to a foster child. On behalf of Healing Hearts and Minds, each bear costs $10, which means the cost for each student is $0.50 in a class of 20 students. Individual students can purchase a bear themselves if they would like in addition to the classroom donation. Please see Mme Janice at the school if you would like to purchase a bear for a foster child in our community.
Counsellor’s corner:
Counselling services at the school provides children with an opportunity to improve skills necessary to help them become more content and successful individuals. The school offers individual and group counselling for students as well as parental support as needed.
In order to expand on part of the counselling services offered at St. Paul School, the counselling office is in need of a few supplies. Before I order any new items, I would like to ask if anyone has something on the list (below) they are willing to donate/sell to improve our counselling room. Please contact the school if you can help…
Large, gently used, Doll House with furniture Miniature characters Card games
Thank you in advance for all your help and support!! It has been great getting to know everyone this term. I look forward to the new year, working with an amazing staff and students at St. Paul School
