Caring, Confident and Respectful Learners
Dear Parents, Carers and Community,
NAPLAN letters have been sent home with
your child today. NAPLAN tests are designed
to provide you, your child and their teacher
with information on how your child’s
learning is progressing, and if they need
support to improve their literacy and
numeracy skills. While NAPLAN is a useful
snapshot of school improvement, its
primary importance is in its use in the
classroom, by teachers who can use it to
help identify specific aspects of student
learning that needs attention. If you have
any queries in relation to these letters or
results contained within please contact the
school.
This Wednesday evening at 5:30 is our
Uluru excursion information evening. The
meeting will be held in the school
library.
First day back at school will be Monday 14th
October.
Have a safe and happy holiday!

JOKE OF THE WEEK
Why do kangaroo mums hate bad weather?
Their joeys have to play inside!
What do you get when you cross a kangaroo with sheep?
A woolly jumper!
WAP News This week, Kate had a visit from her English teacher, Ms Trevethan
who travelled out from Menindee Central School. Kate usually
participates in her lessons via video conferencing so this was a great
opportunity for both teacher and student to have a lesson in person.
Kate has also recently had visits from her hospitality teacher, Ms Clenton. Kate is
currently studying ‘The Art of Coffee’ in hospitality and she was able to practice her
barista skills by making lattes for the staff at ICS. Kate had a great day behind the coffee
machine and the staff enjoyed it too. Delicious!
Kate has completed all of her assessment tasks for year 11 and is now half way through
her final years of senior study. Great work, Kate!

The 3-6 Class in the Science Lab
This week the 3-6 class headed over to the science lab to
create a sunset in a glass beaker. This experiment replicates
the scattering of small particles in the earth’s atmosphere
using milk in a glass beaker of water.
Great work 3-6, how cool is science!
A (Tractor) Bucket Load of Fun
Our high school students are learning how to operate
the school tractor with the help of our principal,
Mr Edwards.
A great way to learn a valuable life skill and they have
lots of fun while doing it!

Due to large numbers of community advertisements coming into the school to be added to the newsletter, the cost is escalating. We would like to continue to produce large and colourful copies but to make this possible we will need to charge a fee for each advertisement. $5.00 for a one off or $20 for a month.
