VCD: Rendering Objective: To understand, and be able to use,
tonal rendering to communicate and
represent our design ideas
What is Rendering?
Rendering is the use of tone (light and dark)
to show 3D form and texture.
There are a range of rendering methods/
techniques to show tone and texture
including shading, smudging, dot, cross
hatching, scumbling, erasing to show a
highlight etc.
Types of Textural Rendering
• Tonal /Shadow
• Wood
• Glass
• Fabric/Mesh
• Concrete
• Metal
• Grass
• Textured Rubber
*These are only some examples of types of rendering that can be used.
